Grimes Beach CoveMy wife Monika posted about our kayak trip at Linekin Bay in East Boothbay, Maine during the 4th of July holiday. While we were there we took a long walk along the rocks at Grimes Beach at Ocean Point.

Boothbay Harbor is one of our favorite weekend getawayHouse on the rocks spots in Maine and the Ocean Point area is a must visit for us.

The walk along Shore Road at Ocean Point has some of the most spectacular views along the Maine Coast.

The views just make you want to find a hammock and a nice bottle of your favorite beverage and just kick back and relax.

It's so peaceful you can hear the bird's chirp and the crickets and frogs make sounds that you may never had heard before.

OCean viewWe often ask ourselves if we had to give up our current lifestyle of traveling in our motor home to live in one of the houses across the street from the ocean at Ocean Point, would we do it? To never RV again in exchange for a home at Ocean Point? Those that know us know that we love RVing!!!

The answer is a resounding Yes, it is that beautiful up  here.

Words can't describe the place or the feeling we get as we walk along Shore Road or climb the rocks jutting out to the sea at Ocean Point.

Hopefully some of our photos capture a little bit of how we feel when we are visiting "the Soul" of the Boothbay Harbor Region. Sadly many tourist never leave Boothbay Harbor and explore East Boothbay or the Ocean Point area. They have no idea what they are missing!

Most of the Ocean Point residents that we have talked to, say that they inherited their homes from family members generations ago. No wonder you don't see a lot of turnover at Ocean Point.

People love the area and keep the homes in their family and simply hand them down generation after generation.

We first fell in love with the area many years ago in our pre-motor home days when we used to stay at the Ocean Point Inn every memorial Day weekend. They had some fabulous pre-season specials that we took advantage of for a few years until we bough the RV.

From the wonderful old stone church to lovely summer cottages and homes that line Shore Road and of course those awesome Ocean Point sunsets. We love it all!Ocean Point

The movie Message in a Bottle was partly filmed at Ocean Point. The actor who starred in the film Kevin Costner once described Maine as "Painfully beautiful".

Jay and Monika's description of Ocean Point...Painfully Beautiful!

George, You really should plan a long weekend in Maine. There are lots of misguided souls walking around in Yankee hats up there.

Bob and Carolin thanks for stopping by it's appreciated.

Moni that was pretty funny as we were stuck inside for a few minutes, pretty wild.

Greorge you need to take some time off and head north you won't regret it. I even see a lot of folks wearing baseball caps with NY on the front. They too enjoy it here.

Great pictures Jay. This is certainly a beautiful place. Kind of reminds me of the cliff walk in RI.

Broker Bryant, the cliff walk is a spectacular stroll along the ocean in Newport and we just love to stroll through the mansions. We haven't been in Newport in a few years. Not too many RV resort to camp at down there.

Jay - this is absolutely gorgeous!  Those pictures are soooooo beautiful.  I've been up in that area several times, many years ago, and it is 'painfully beautiful'.  There are many areas in Maine that that description is perfect for, just like places in New Hampshire.

BB - the Cliff Walk is lovely, but this area of Maine has it beat, in my opinion.  We did the Cliff Walk several times, the last time was last year or the year before.  It was in bad need of repair then - not sure if it's been repaired or not.  I hope so as it is a gorgeous walk along the cliffs and the breath-taking mansions.

Jay and Monika - just beautiful, and yes, you are very lucky to have such wonderful memories!

George, that camping trip we were with friends of ours and their daughter's husband was a Yankee fan. We all sat around the campfire watching the game and he stayed at his site listening to the Yankees on the radio. All I could hear was cussing. They lost that game.. LOL

Leigh, not only can you smell the fresh air but the salt off the water makes it very pleasing too. I usually just take a great big deep breath everytiime we hit our favorite spots.

Linda, Yeah nothing like the East Coast, you and my twin are more than welcome to come on up at any time.

George, thank goodness we have the Celtics with a good past. I don't have to look too far in the past to see how the Sox have made a turnaround. Just look to 2004 and being down 3 games to none we fought back and swept the Yanks and the Cardinals 8 in a row. Our 1978 is like your 2004. Have a great day George and the Yankee/Sox rivalry lives on. LOL

Celeste, thanks for stopping by and yes there are many more beautiful sunsets her on the East Coast. But, Hawaii has so many more and we need to get back out there in the near future.

Carole, That was the one thing I missed about living in Minnesota and Atlanta the.. Ocean... Another plus is we have the mountains and lakes to enjoy too.

That sure looks like a beautiful place Jay.  I am attracted to places that are near the water.  Is it warm enough to swim there in the summertime or is the water cold year round?  I have never been in Atlantic Ocean that far up north.
