BEGIN IN 2010!

Begin in 2010!

I have found in my 29 years on this planet when you focus on something it happens. So what are your goals?  What do you want to accomplish this year? Writing down your goals can prove powerful. When I put my goals in writing and look at them daily, it keeps me focused. At the year's end , when I review them, I find I have accomplished, at least half , if not all of my goals. It always amazes me. Although", time and unforseen occurrence befalls us all, " ( Ecc.9:11) We are all walking free moral agents who can choose to do what we want to do, or let the winds of life knock us hither and thither. What will you choose?

I choose to do my best , give my best and help others  to do the same. There are so many ways we can do this. Everyone's goals are different but here are a few I suggest:

Read more. We are becoming a society of instant results. How stressful when that doesn't happen! Turn off the T.V., computer, X Box and pick up a book that's been collecting dust. The one that has been subliminally calling out, "Read me!". As the old Nike ad says, "Just do it." How refreshing a good book can be, especially if its one that motivates you to improve your life. Oh, how I enjoy the fresh crisp pages of a good book!

Help someone. Now, this may prove to be a  challenge for some, but really it's not difficult. Think outside the box. No money to give? Could you volunteer for a local non-profit organization? Maybe this could just be an hour a week, or maybe a great blog written from the comfort of your own home promoting the charity or non profit event. Explore your talents and put them to good use--for the benefit of someone else. When you focus your time and attention on someone else, you will discover that your own life stresses and worries melt away. You will be blessed in so many ways. Your life will be richer. That brings me to my next goal:

Relax. If you're relaxed your mind is free and clear, ready to begin the day. There are many ways to do this: the two goals above are what help me in this department. But, for you, it may be taking a walk; riding a bike; doing Pilates; playing with your children.

Whatever it is, do some self exploration and find out what makes you relax, and do it! Do it as often as you need to. You can't give back if there is nothing inside of you to give. So alone time is very important. A brisk walk with my two dogs does the trick for me. Take a deep breath.  Now that's an easy goal to accomplish!

Be Fearless. Challenge your inner assumptions that can stall progress. I read something recently that really stuck with me. It was in USA Weekend featuring Dr. Oz, it said, "Remember the goldfish doesn't know that there's a world beyond the bowl until he is lifted out. Similarly you can't appreciate the limitations of your current life until you have challenged and moved past them. No matter when you start making changes, remind yourself that new year's resolutions are not wind sprints--they are marathons. Be persistent and keep going. Are you ready to take the first step? There's no better time than now." I couldn't have said it any better.

Start today. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Take that step today.

I hope all of you out there accomplish your dreams and aspirations.  Have a great year!!!

Wow Allison.  What a powerful message.  Thank you for your thoughts.  I love the "walking free moral agents".  That's wonderful.

You have inspired me so much that I'm printing out your blog post and I am going to really do it.

Thanks again.  And Cheers to you for a fantastic 2010!
