Senior Shopping Day at Fry's in Surprise Arizona

After all of my running around yesterday I decided to make a run for the grocery store. I've been putting it off and it was time.

I really like the Fry's Marketplace stores. They really have a lot of selection, great produce and a health food section with lots to choose

from. Not to mention the house wear products Starbucks and the fuel station. It's all in one place. I go to the Fry's Marketplace at Cotton Lane & Greenway.

My moto when going to the grocery store is to go with a list and get in and get out. Well, today the get in and get out wasn't going to work.

I'm cruising through the store and I can't help but notice there are a bunch of people in the store. It's Wednesday for goodness sake, what's everybody doing here on a Wednesday? I purposely avoid the weekends because that's when everyone else is doing their weekly grocery shopping.

I decided to ask one of the store staff what was happening. She told me it was "Seniors Day". Well that makes sense now. Shoppers were strolling up and down the isles and just looking at things taking their sweet old time. Not a problem at all, however I did have to take a couple detours because the isles were so congested.

When it came to check out I figured I'd get a little more on this "Senior's Day" deal. Here are the details:

• Senior's Day is the first Wednesday of each month.
• Seniors receive a 10% discount off of everything in the store except prescriptions, liquor & tobacco.
  
• Senior's Day takes place at all Fry's stores across the state.
• Senior's Day age qualification is 55+

A few reason to think about not shopping at Fry's on "Senior's Day":

• Crowded isles
• Long check out lanes
• Bagging your own groceries

A few reasons to think about shopping at Fry's on "Senior's Day":

• Lot's of activity
• Meeting people
• Running into your neighbor or clients

Oh, one other thing worth mentioning is the free roses they give away at the door. Very nice indeed. I asked if they gave the roses away on Senior's Day and other occasions. The staff member told me that they give them away when they get new flowers in and they need to get rid of the "older" flowers.

Those flowers sure looked nice to me and I passed on one for myself. I figured it's Senior's Day and they deserved them more than I (not being a senior you see). Maybe I'll take one on "Realtor Day", yeah right!!!
