I have written several blogs about WEICHERT Realtors on this site, and I have had some responses from an individual which I would classify as catty.  If you are responding to my blog with negative comments about WEICHERT I have no issue with that per se.  All I ask for is the truth.  Whatever that might be.  Say what you need to say and back it up with hard facts.  The thing I have always enjoyed about WEICHERT is their attention to details and excellence.  So please when you respond with issues you may have currently or perhaps with WEICHERT over the past 38 years please remark on specifics.  I have seen this type of slanderous activity throughout my career in real estate.  It's usually done with a facial expression or a whispered comment by someone who thinks they are better than everyone else, but what they forget is that they are clearly violating the Realtor Code of Ethics.  So this week when I was away for the holiday I had my blog responded to with the comment saying basically "sounds good, just remember to treat your people better than Weichert Corp."  OK.  That's fine.  Say it...but say what you mean.  Was there a manager in a Weichert office 10 years ago that didn't run your open house ad?  Was there an agent who told your mother's friend's friend that Weichert makes their people pay for postage?  Whatever it is be professional.  Be ethical.  Be a Realtor and understand that if you live by the innuendo or run your business by the same...that your business will probably die by the innuendo as well.  That's all I have to say on the subject except that by my calculations Weichert has grown into the #2 spot behind NRT as being the country's largest and then second largest real estate company.  Weichert is still the largest privately held company, and their growth is pretty spectactular considering we are in a real estate market that has slowed over the last couple of years. So let's all just get to work, service our clients, and stop badmouthing everyone else's success.

7 Comments on The Truth About WEICHERT Realtors and "The Innuendo"

Hi James,

I couldn't agree more.  I have no comments about Weichert per se, but can chime in on the personal attacks I have witnessed some of the other Realtors have been doing and can't understand why folks want to operate this way.  Clients, if they saw this behavior would not be impressed at all about how an agent slams another agent, it gives a bad impression, even if the comments are true, but who really knows?  Every agency has its "bad cats" it doesn't make the agency itself a "bad cat", just that it may have some sly agents on its roster and those sorts of folks are everywhere, in every profession, around every corner and they can be spotted a mile away by the majority of people.  I say those that bad mouth others just need to be ignored and not waste energy on them.  I have wasted energy on them and time until I decided that they must spend a lot of time being miserable and having to think of other folks like that.  I have better things to do with my time and energy such as making sure I am the best I can be!  They make themselves look bad and ridiculous -- I say "move on."

Sondra,

I think that everyone is entitled to an opinion.  I want them to back up their opinion with facts.  Don't just say something or someone is sub par...prove it.  That's professional.

Try as I have, I was not able to find an example of Weichert bashing on AR.  Guess you are more atuned to it since you affiliate with Weichert.

The company does well here in Fredericksburg Virginia; good people!

The first person you need to know in Fredericksburg VA

I have had great success with the Weichart real Estate offices in the transaction of business. I can not say the same about their relocation division. They have had several complaints and have been fined by the Tennessee real Estate Commission for doing things like telling homeowners what real estate office they must use while not informing the owner of their referral split fees on top of their company charges, in a word "illegal". So I do not know what the complaints are here on AR but their local real estate office is great

Hi James, Unfortunately, I have witnessed some of the negative comments as well, and wrote another post about a comment that was left on one of my blogs. I am not affiliated with Weichert, but would not stand by and allow someone to use the comment portion of my blog as a forum to "bash" their competitors. The commentor lives in my state, but is not located in our market area, and is not affiliated with our company. They went back and deleted their comment.  If you can't define what sets you apart from your competition and just post negative remarks about your competitors, that is unprofessional and I am sure the consumers will see it that way as well.

I find that people who "invest" time in bashing our company have had negative experiences due to their being outperformed because we are so well-trained.

There is one AR blog "responder" who constantly talks about Weichert being "run out of" Delaware.  I have no idea what he is talking about.  I looked up on the Weichert office roster and see one office with over 70 brokers in it.  Delaware is not a very large state.  Perhaps the growth in Florida is something this person overlooked.  Prudential lost 13 offices in Orlando to Weichert and now Weichert-Hallmark has 16 or 17 offices.
