I have been contacted by a company to do some work for them
I sent them an agreement, they sent me an email saying our Work Order should be enough
What would your comment to them be on this?
I made it very clear to the gentlemen I talked with, no signature on the agreement no work!
Also they want to pay me 30-45 days after,
I thought would that not be interesting if I said that to for instance my cable company who likes to bill me a month ahead of time.
Eragorn, as a builder I never did work without a contract and I either got paid in advance or a portion before start and the balance due on completion. Never had any one not agree to this arrangement.
I now see you are an inspector---so I am not sure whether you are talking about construction work or inspection work----either way you need to get the contract signed ahead of time.
I agree... no contract, no work ...and 30 day pay! You've got to pay your bills too!
Hi Charles
I was in the construction industry before becoming a H.I. and we always had a contract signed then to, as well as now.
It helps i think to have every thing out lined, job description, price ,payment method, legal.
Thanks for your comments
You should have your own work order with the proper wording you require so that it is one page depending on the job and have the necessary payment requirements.
Hey Kathy,
I agree, the thirty day thing oh boy,
thanks for your comments
Yes, we do have our own agreement, with all the required info.
Most of our agreements are completed online, and sendable any where you can get online.
we also have our agreements in paper form should we meet in person.
Hi Eragorn. I came by way of Russel's blog. How's the winter up there in Sask? I grew up in Saskatoon, so I can feel your pain. I don't ever want to spend another winter like that if I can help it. Good luck with your business in 2010.
