The Town of Waxhaw

By

Named after an area Indian tribe, the town of Waxhaw is as historic as it is picturesque.  Waxhaw in fact is a national historic district, offering visitors a rare glimpse into southern history. The town was settled in the late 1700's but did not become a bustling area of development till the late 1800's when railroad tracks were built through the middle of the town for a route that delivered passengers to Atlanta. Those railroad tracks still exist today, running through this historic town as a reminder of how it got its modest start.

Train Tracks in WaxhawToday Waxhaw remains one of the best kept secrets in Union County real estate. With the small town feel of a quaint village combined with the proximity to the Queen city makes this town a winner. Residents enjoy Cane Creek Park, among other attractions. There are homes, land, and farms for sale in Waxhaw and even some townhouses.

Visitors will enjoy Waxhaw's historic shopping district that boasts some of the best antique shops North Carolina has to offer. This quaint and quiet town will no doubt grow as it did a hundred years ago, with more people looking for affordable, safe living.
