Renters wreck TRANSFORMED into a Buyers Dream!

By
Home Stager with Chicagoland Home Staging LLC

Not all houses start out being a buyers dream. This 10 year rental, though vacant, still had too much of the previous tenants' personality lingering behind.

A PROFESSIONAL HOUSE STAGER can take a diamond in the rough and make it place a young family would be proud to live. We saw lots of hidden potential, RE-ARRANGE IT INTERIORS just helped buyers see it to.

Here are a few rooms....

BEFORE LIVING ROOM - The previous occupants were heavy smokers so #1 on the list was to bring in new carpet and paint. Lots of small repairs to doors, grout, drywall, fixtures made the home move in ready.

Another view in Living room - The landlord/seller just hung these brand new mismatched sheers... not sure what he was thinking but they had to go.

AFTER STAGING - view #1

BATH - Painting vanities, kitchen islands, and mantles can give you an instant face lift. Don't be afraid to use black it looks great. If your looking for a good espresso color try Ben. Moore black bean soup (2130) as shown here.

BEFORE - DEN / 3rd BEDROOM

This was an awkward room. It had 3 exit doors. 1 to a screened in 3 season porch which was a wreck. It needed an identity. The sellers wanted to call it a 3rd bedroom so we tried to show its versatility with a desk and futon.

AFTER - DEN /3rd BEDROOM

The PORCH - Before unfinished wood walls and ceilings. (see before den photo) It had in-door out-door bright green carpet that was removed. A pet lived in this space so everything needed to be air out and sealed to eliminate the odor. Before staging it was hard to see what value this room added to the property.

 AFTER - BEDROOM

Awww, the mismatched sheers were so interesting, sorry they had to go.  I'm with you, not sure what he was thinking.

Great work Margaret.  What a huge difference.

Thank you for sharing the colour of the vanity.  I'm starting a new staging project on Monday and have a feeling the vanity will look like yours did.  Perfect colour you chose.

Incredible transformation! I love the colors and rich tones. Question - How did you hang the living room curtains? They look very classy.

Thanks Sharon, painting old vanities is such an easy way to update on old or boring bath room.

Shelly, Those panels were originally made to hang on knobs (see pic) so there are small loops in the back, (simular to any panel with drapery hooks..no rod pocket). They stayed in this model for about 1.5 years. Since this new job is short term we hung them on screws with drapery hooks...no hardware at all. They go up (and down) in minutes.  This also works on cuffed top treatments but I think thats another post.

Janice, It was....by the time it was done it was easy a young family living there. thank you for your comment.

David, I was done pretty inexpensive to.

The staging has created a big stir..The pictures have been bringing in lots of showings. I actually had 2 buyers that bought other homes in a higher $$ amount call me to ask if we can 'stage to live' for them.

Wow Wow Wow.....it is absolutely beautiful.  I love the window treatments.  How did you hang them???  I need to start doing more window treatments, I think it makes the room.  You really transformed that home.  Great job and thanks for sharing.

Christine, thanks

Chrissie, Thanks..we put drapery hooks in the back of the panels and just hung them on screws in the wall..no hardware at all. I know it sounds weird but it works.
