I created this Wufoo web form because people rightfully want to know, does Home Staging really work?

So please Active Rain Realtors, give your feedback. Entries need to be in by July 18, 2007. Results will be posted by July 20, 2007.

*your name & contact info are not required. PLEASE ONLY ONE ENTRY PER USER. Obviously, home stagers cannot respond, unless you are a Realtor that stages your own listings.

If you check "there are no home stagers in my area, I need more info", and sincerely want feedback, please enter your info.

**the more info you give me, the more I'll have to share with the Active Rain community and the public that reads our blogs.

Sue, may I suggest that you ask people who've used stagers to quantify exactly what "working well" meant, perhaps in terms of increased sale price, faster sales, etc? This info could add a lot of "wow factor" for real estate agents who are trying to sell clients on using a stager.

Sue - I saw that you put this same survey on Real Talk, too.  Are you doing separate surveys to keep the results from the different networks separate, or combining whatever results you get from these into one set of results?

Ann,

No, I want to keep the stats separate. You can make 3 Wufoo's for free, so I made one for Active Rain, and one for RealTalk.

I just logged on to RealTalk tonight and snooped around a little. Do you blog routinely in there? I found it a little difficult to maneuver around the site, maybe I'm just not used to it.

Thanks for stopping by Ann.

Hi Sue!

This is a great idea. It will help professionals as well as consumers understand a bit better the emerging Home Staging Industry  and it value and benefits.  By taking the survey, hopefully you will be able to use these stats to develop consumer awareness of exactly what services a home stager provides.

What we hear most often are issues involving over crowding rooms.

Too much clutter.

Disliking wallpaper, or paint colors.

Sue - RT isn't a blogging platform, rather a listserv of sorts.  I've been part of that group almost since it's inception, back in 1995 or so.  There are a number of others here on AR that are also part of RT and some that used to be part.

It will be interesting to read the results and see what the general experience has been.

Penny, thanks for commenting.

I was hoping to get a lot of responses from AR agents to offer the public a great resource. And hoping to get this blog featured so that many more agents would see it and offer their help. But I know the moderators have loads of people wanting their blog featured, and they can't feature 'em all.

There are home staging statistics offered thru StagedHomes.com which are very favorable for stagers, but I wanted to collect data from Active Rain, where there are hundreds of agents that could provide a more objective set of stats.

Anyone reading who can help me with this endeavor, please do?

Margaret Innis,

I commented on being able "to hear the crickets chirping" in here...I stole that from Sarah Cooper, she was referring to how quiet it was in her comment box after writing a blog she had high hopes for.

Sue I filled out your Wufoo form and hope it submits my info when I submit my comment.  There's no submit button and I'm a blonde!  :)  I'd love to find a EXPERIENCED stager near me, Craig was suppose to try and find somone cuz hes about 40 miles away, but I guess he's had no success either.

Hi Sue,

Check  out the link on my website http://susanpeters.com  under why list with Susan(the tale of 3 townhomes). 3 identical properties on the market at the same time, 1 vacant, 1 occupied and 1 staged. Staging made a 20k price difference in the vacant unit and a 15k difference in the occupied unit. It's an "apples to apples" comparison of the value of Staging.

Hi Sue,

Maybe your second set of responses would be more informative if you gave more open ended choices.

The submit button keeps crashing. Anyone know of a fix??
12:25pm • #29

Hi again, Sue:

The second set seems a bit negative, and I bet you didn't intend that.  How about: The homes I sell are higher priced and typically well presented. Or, I am not a stager but always consult with the seller to observe basic staging criteria, etc.

Bill, thank you for your suggestion. I did not want to sound negative. Thank you for pointing it out to me.

Let me know if you think the changes I made are good.

Sue, I completely agree that staging a home properly will sell it faster. And also sell it at a higher price! I have not yet had a client who said "geez i dont like this home because of the staging".
