Mountain Magic

Well this is my first attempt at blogging and I hope it is fun and useful to everyone that takes the time to read it. Most of my information will concern real estate with emphasis on the North Georgia Mountains. I have been a member of AR for about a week and have tried to take the time to read and comment on interesting blogs and to see what this blogging is all about.  I could see where this could be addicting as many of you have commented.

I live in Dahlonega Georgia and my office is in Dawsonville, GA. Summer in this area brings a lot of activity. It is a weekend destination for many that live in Atlanta. There is plenty to see and do. Canoing, trout fishing in the local rivers and streams and backpacking is also popular with the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail located in Lumpkin county. This is where most through hikers (going all the way to Maine!!) get started in March and usually end up in Maine sometime in September . Lake Lanier is close and there is plenty of outdoor water activity going on there all summer. Believe it or not there are 4 wineries and vineyards in Lumpkin county. The wineries are open for tours, tastings, dinners and they host events such as weddings.

I work in Lumpkin, Dawson, North Forsyth and West Hall counties specializing in mountain, lake and river property. Like many areas the market has softened some and there area lot of homes presently on the market. Since interest rates are still good it is a great time to be in the market for a new home a vacation place on Lake Lanier or some river property to build on later. Although the market is flush with available homes, properties with good mountain view, lake or river frontages continue to hold their value.

So there it is, my first blog. I look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with AR and would appreciate any comments anyone may have.

Welcome, Michael! As a former North Carolinian in love with the area around Bryson City, NC, a little further up the AT, I always enjoy reading about agents in "my" beloved mountains. You might enjoy the photos on my son's home page at CraigParksRealtor.com.

Michael:  A big Texas Howdy and Welcome. The area you describe with the hills and lake sounds much like where I live. Lake property is also a hot seller in this area; everyone wants lake front. You will find everyone friendly and will answer any questions you may have. You may even have more AR's responding then you can handle. Good Luck!

Thanks to everyone for the welcome and all of the kind comments.

JaneAnne- I really loved "A Walk In the Woods" I read it several years ago passed it on to friends and haven't seen it since. I am afraid I am not much of a hiker and I have only done a few day hikes on portions of the trail in Georgia. Now that I am pushing 60 if I went I better take someone that knows CPR!

Oh yea regarding photos. It took me so long to get the first blog in I thought I would play with adding photos the next time.

Way to go Michael!  I'm so glad to meet a fellow North Georgian.  You entitled your blog perfectly - Mountain Magic!  Ain't it the truth.  The mountains get in your system, don't they?  Sort of like blogging on Active Rain.  I'm in the Blue Ridge area so I'll be watching your future blogs about your area.
