Hi, Gary. This is a great post and I really enjoyed it. Learned a thing or two, too!

Well, I learned what some of the ab's are for.  I have never sent a text yet.  I guess I just have to continue speaking english!

Remember SWAK? When we actually wrote letters?

I only hope young people learn to spell and use English somewhat properly.

I got IMHO and ROFL. But then, I don't text (yes, I know, I'm out of date- but then so are a lot of my clients).

Gary, just before Christmas I noticed a poster at WalMart that had about 100 or more text definitions on it.  BTW - it takes me about ten minutes to respond to received texts, just can't get the hang of the two hand method. 

I only knew the ROTFLMAO because of C-Tann.  I knew a couple of others...but I'm a Luddite for sure.  I write my messages out on my blackberry.  Can't stand the texting stuff.  But, it is somewhat the same.  I just consider my email messages more erudite....try texting that!  HA!!!

Great title!  I guess I could use the help, because I only knew three of them.

Great post Gary, My daughter says I'm a terrible texter - but she gets it, so I guess all is not lost! Maybe if you contacted Vanna she would give you a vowel LOL

You embarrass me. Before long the English language as we know it will be replaced by texting, I'm afraid.

Gary...I'm glad I know a little pig-latin...actually, your blog just might help me more with texting...isn't it getting crazy?

Gary, I've lived this and I have a little sheet with the most common abbreviations so I can decipher texts from mostly the younger crowd.

I remember when I first started here at Active Rain, I was always asking people what certain abbreviations meant.  Getting to know everyone through the hijacking posts meant that very often I was lol and rotflmao!!  Have a great day Gary!

I text quite a bit and so know many of the short forms....it helps that my 22 yr old son is someone who I text most often with. Somehow when there are young people around we tend to pick up their language.

But seriously, it's no different than acronyms we use in email. I made up one once. It's WYDH. And it caught on. It was just a joke.  Stands for Who's Your Daddy, Hambone.

Thanks for the info as I was wondering what some meant. The latest was a symbol sent to me <3 and it took me ages to realize that it is a heart.

The two I knew are onlyl because someone told me these in the past. The rest were pure Greek...or was it Russian.. how would I know?

That is pretty amazing list! I got most of it, I better brush up my skills of these lingos or I will be left behind!
