Active Rain Success Story - Lights, Camera, Action!

Never in my mind did I picture myself creating as much as I've created on Active Rain this past year. Never! To my complete surprise I received an email from Katie Tarbox, Senior Editor, REALTOR Magazine in December letting me know I was being considered to be one of the eight Masters of Real Estate featured on Realtor.org in 2010.

Where did REALTOR Magazine find me?  On Active Rain of course! Ms.Tarbox had been reading my posts and liked my approach and out of the box ideas on prospecting. She was thinking of me for the Prospecting Master in their  very popular online video training series.

Katie said they'd like to come to Phoenix the first week in January for a 2 day interview and camera shoot, would that work for me?  What a great opportunity and fabulous way to begin 2010 - the first week to boot! Yes - I would be interested!

Katie and Gabe arrived this past Thursday in sunny Arizona and lit up my office in no time at all (in more ways then just lights)! She is a delightful, upbeat and very smart professional woman. And Gabe quickly became part of the office crew with his smile and relaxing demeanor. We all felt very comfortable with them from the first hour of their arrival. Now that's how you can tell a good producer and camera pro!

We spent the first day in my office with longer interview segments regarding my business & prospecting and interviews with other associates. Katie is an expert at asking the right questions. I had never been coached for a professional video shoot so it was most interesting to see how the pros make it happen! I've done many videos, public speaking, teaching and interviews over the years but none as exciting as this interview and shoot! I've got to tell you - I'm hooked! Next stop HGTV!

We wrapped up the days shoot with an Impromptu Happy hour at our favorite area wine bar, Bombero's Cafe and Wine Bar. We sent out quick invites to local business associates and about 20 or so were able to join us in giving Katie and Gabe a warm Phoenix welcome. It was also a great networking opportunity for those folks who weren't acquainted with each other yet. I'm sure they'll be doing business with each other in the future.

Gabe contined shooting while Katie shared interesting stories of her travels.  All of us were new to this platform so it made for a most unusual and exciting happy hour we've ever hosted!

Now - back to Active Rain! I want to express my sincere appreciation to Bob, Brad and all the people that have been part of my amazing journey this past year.  In my wildest dreams I would not imagined that 2010 would be starting out as it has so far. When I started posting on Active Rain I had no clue how to write a good post nor did I have any idea of how to use social media to build my business - none.  I just jumped in all the way and dedicated many many (did I say MANY) hours to learning, growing and becoming part of the BEST online community I've ever experienced. I've had the opportunity to meet many of the members in person and I'm here to say they are as genuine and engaging in real life as they are online! 

I am very thankful to be a member of the Active Rain Family! Thanks to each and every one of you that have shown me the ropes along the way. I look forward to giving back and I look forward to continued growth and creating new relationships in 2010.
