Agave Plant

My wife and I were walking through a neighborhood, when I spotted this from 4 blocks away! This Agave Plant was about four 6 feet tall and one of three on the property. It was a beautiful sight that I wanted to share. Dave Roberts, an Activerainer in Healdsburg, would know more about this plant. I'm going to drop him a line to see if he can help out.

That's a really pretty looking Agave plant!  I use Blue Agave Nectar in some of my recipes, and have wondered what they actually looked like!  I also like the way they have surrounded the plant with flat moss rocks in the landscape. . .Nice touch!

Anthony, I am not familiar with this type of plant, but 4 feet tall is a big plant, I assume.  They look like the leaves can hurt you if you run into it??

Now that's really cool to find something like that in the neighborhood. Won't find anything thing like that growing in these parts. Everything is buried in 3 feet of snow!

Anthony,  I don't think I've ever seen one that big.  Great photo.  Makes me think of the desert and warm climates:)

These do get really tall, but I wish you were standing next to it to really show off its height.

Anthony,  Those are amazing plants.  I was once told that they are closely related to the Lily  -- I can't see the family resemblance, but when I checked Wikipedia, it said that they are closely related.

Anthony, thanks for the request for more information. I was on the road in Arizona and couldn't get to a computer to respond in timely fashion. These are great plants.

Beautiful photo Anthony.  Agave are such an interesting color, I wish we could grow them in Southern Oregon.
