Near Charlotte’s southern most lake is Lake Wylie. Its shore lines dip in and out of South Carolina and North Carolina.
Here in lies the town of Tega Cay “beautiful peninsula”, which is positioned on a large beautiful peninsula, hence, its name. The neighborhood was begun in the 1970s and was originally modeled after a Polynesian resort.
Lake Wylie homes in Tega Cay reflect the developer’s intent as the designs work well with the sloping lots within the area. The town is situated on approximately 1600 acres of land with 15 miles or so of Lake Wylie’s shoreline.
Tega Cay’s amenities include a 27-hole golf course, 
with a clubhouse, pavilion, eight tennis courts, miles and miles of walking trails, several parks, public athletic fields, a beach, swimming center, boat launching areas and a marina.
As could be expected, many of Tega Cay’s high end homes can be found on the golf course or on the water!
Tega Cay’s location from Charlotte proper is just 30 minutes north. Here you’ll enjoy SC low tax rates, and Fort Mill’s excellent schools! So, if you are hankering for water…this may be the right spot for you! (The school systems are always growing so this school set up may change).
