I certainly am cold. I don't think I'm as well equipped to deal with the weather as that critter in the picture.

FRIGID is the operative word in many parts of the USA>  This guy looks like he has a good coat!

What an amazing animal! Was this in a park or on an open range?

Sandy,  I'm usually tired of winter before it starts.  That is one reason that I love to work with clients moving to Latin America  -- most of it is nice and warm.

Malcom,  That critter is extremely well equipped for bitter cold and nasty winter weather.

Craig,  It is an amazing coat.  One look and you know why buffalo coats and robes were so popular that the buffalo were nearly wiped out.

Joan,  It is frigid a lot of the time where this guy lives and he doesn't even seem to notice.

Anthony,  They really are amazing.  I took this photo in a small park by the town of Evanston, Wyoming.

Well, he sure doesn't look cold. I must say I do feel for all the horses and cows out there that are enduring this cold spell. I suppose if we had a little thicker hide we may not be so cold either but we would probably dress funny. ;-)

Now this is a creature that I don't get to see in person.  But since he likes it cold and I really don't, I'm okay with just seeing nice shots like this :)

John,  Great comment.  Actually, I grew up on a ranch and watched the horses and cows with their thick, shaggy hair and they did pretty well even in extreme cold.  The bad part was when a bitter storm would come through about the time the little calves and foals were being born.  They didn't have the thick, hairy coats and it could really be tough on them.

Jim & Maria, I don't know whether they like cold or whether they just ignore it.  It has to get extremely cold before they try to find any type of shelter or bunch up like cows.  I know I don't like cold, but I adapt in a hurry -- I usually don't even put my coat on if I am outside for a short time until it is below 0.

Yvette & Dennis,  They are really something.  When I was in high school and rode in rodeos, one day they brought a yearling buffalo for an exhibition ride.  The chutes are built with a lot of leverage, so one or two men can hold a big horse or bull.  That little buffalo had about eight guys trying to hold the gate --  the strength and power of them is almost unbelievable.

Gary,

Who can be cold in a fur coat? Can you imagine what it must have been like when there were millions of these running around the plains?

Rich,  Fur coats really are the best thing to keep you warm.  And it must have been amazing to see the huge herds of them as the roamed.  Thanks for stopping by.

It has to be the fur, because when I bundle up in cold weather I still get cold and those animals can just meander around and they look as happy as can be.

Morgan,  I think that nature makes the best coats -- fur and feathers.  And it usually seems that animals are happy.

Bob, Thank you.  He looked pretty comfortable to me.

Debra, Thank you.  They can look pretty scary.  Can you imagine Indians hunting them with only bows & arrows and spears?

Mary, You're right.  Although when I am visiting at my Mom's in Wyoming, I get to see them quite often -- at least a lot more than in Las Vegas.

No I can't!  I can't imagine having to run from that thing if I hit it with an arrow and only made it mad!

Debra,  I've seen them run and I would really hate to have one behind me.  I probably couldn't hit one with an arrow anyway. They aren't a big enough target for me. LOL
