This very cold and blustery Sunday, I am on overload. And for once, it's not because of the real estate market. My first time buyers and short sale sellers are taking a breather today, so I get one too. That's a welcome change for a Northern Virginia real estate agent.
So what's got me on overload?
I spent the whole day shopping.
I know that some of you out there live for this activity. Not me. Every store my husband James and I frequented today fell into the category of a mega store. Now James is a shopper. He loves to browse the aisles. Not me. I like to know what I need, get in, get it and go. Browsing the olympic sized aisles of Lowe's and Super Target are not my idea of fun. What you need is never where you think it should be and you seem to get amnesia for what you came in for to begin with.
Case in point, James and I were in Lowe's last night and forgot the toilet tank flappers we needed. That's the reason for our return trip today.
After Lowe's and Super Target, we hit Best Buy. This store simply put me on sensory overload. Even shopping warrior James felt like melting into a puddle in a corner of the store. There's just so much noise. So much stuff. And everything feels like you simply MUST have it. I nearly got suckered into a sandwich grill. I assure you, I do not need one. Thankfully, I made out of there with the bare essentials. Again, the essentials were not so easy to find.
How can shopping make being on the phone with Bank of America and Wells Fargo regarding my short sale contracts seem like a walk in the park? At least I know that the hold music of Bank of America's short sale call center won't put me into sensory overload. And Wells Fargo short sale time lines make infinitely more sense than layout of Best Buy.
Thank God I'm home, relaxing in front of the fireplace with my laptop to be my only distraction.
