Franklin TN or Disneyland?

By
Real Estate Agent with Stamps Realty

Not many people know I've been to Disneyland close to 100 times.  WHAT?!?!  You heard me!  It helps that I grew up less than an hour from the place, so it was an easy day trip for my parents.  From the time I was 2-35, I probably went anywhere from 2-3 times per year.  In the past 5 years, I've been to some Disney location (land or world) 4 times (and I live 2000 miles away!).  As the parent of a 6 year old, our vacation plans always tend to somehow involve Disney.

If you've ever been to Southern California, you know that most of the cities and towns there do not resemble Main Street USA.  Not in the slightest!  One town/city merges into the other, and unless you are familiar with the boundaries, it's hard to tell when you've left one town/city/county and entered another.  It's just an endless sea of houses, buildings, etc.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just the way it is.

What some people don't know about me, too, is that I was raised around the movie industry.  My uncle was a Producer for Universal in the 70's & 80's.  Much of my childhood was spent on tv/movie sets.  As such,  it's no surprise that I thought Disney's Main Street USA was nothing more than something from some "Art Director's" imagination.  It's pristine condition.  The "home town" feel.  Oh sure, maybe it existed 100 years ago, but those days are long gone.  It's fantasy.

Disney Main Street

Or is it?

The first time I saw (Historic) Franklin, TN, I about "fell out of my chair."  OK, I was in a car, but that's beside the point.  There it was.  Right in front of me!  Well, o.k., it was missing the 10,000 tourists roaming the streets with cotton candy in hand, but it was RIGHT THERE!

MAIN STREET USA REALLY DOES EXIST!!!

(and it's known as Franklin, TN!)

Historic Franklin

What's even more cool?!?  YOU CAN LIVE HERE TOO!  The home town feel.  Knowing your neighbors.  The safe feeling even when you walk along the streets at night.  Fun community events and atmosphere.  A state with no income tax.  Very affordable cost of living compared to most major cities - but you have one (Nashville) just 20-30 minutes away.  It's not a fantasy.  It exists!

If you've ever thought of "leaving it all behind" for a simpler life.  It's truly possible.  Call me.  Let's chat!

What a fun post - fun to read and such a creative way to talk about your hometown.  Makes me want to get out my Christmas Parade photos and post about Jamestown's hometown feel.

Tori, Yes there are many home towns scattered across the USA and it does draw people to at least visit on weekends.  It looks as if Franklin would be a very good choice to visit for the rest of any ones life.
