Well, if you read my blog, you know that cheap scented candles aren't the solution...

Candle Burning Tips  So, what do you do to eliminate foul odors from a home????

Well, pull up a chair children,   User feeds child sitting in  Because the answer is so simple...

It's stupid simple! It's almost embarrassing easy...

Simply saturate stain and just let it do its thing.

Absolutely NO ODORS or discoloration!

Locate source of offensive smell and spray- saturate it!

Works on other stains as well!   to remove red wine stains.

Try it for yourself and see if it works!

It's just a super use for this 'old wives tale' like product.

Baking soda is wonderful as well and can be made into a poultice and spread onto surfaces...

Now for those looking for some more innovative technology than the aforementioned,

Check out Titanium Dioxide ( TiO2). Photo Catalytic Nano Technology, to be more precise.

Nano TiO2 PCO (Photocatalytic             Photocatalyst Technology

Our company got involved with this nano technologyyears ago. but now it's pretty well known and widely used, but still a facinating product...

TiO2 is what turns sugar white           Sugar Stacks used regular

It is contained in most cosmetics  Cosmetics & Skin Care

It's in alot of the food we eat.

And when sprayed onto a surface inside or outside and activated by light, it literally fries all bacteria, virus, odors, MRSA, SARS...

Continuously! Inertly.

Like a bug zapper    .bug zapper

A study in Milan showed that when TiO2 is sprayed onto a small percentage of exterior surfaces inside city limits, levels of pollution dropped dropped dramatically...!

With regards to AIR PURIFICATION and FILTRATION...

Here are also some magnificent filtration and purification systems that can be purchased as portable units or whole house systems that provide outstanding relief from even the strongest offenders and are being used in hospitalsand casinos all over the world,

Dynamic Air Filtration is the choice for ASHRAE in their corporate offices.

The ONLY air filtration and purification systems our company has anything to do with are:

  • Dynamic
  • Genisis Air
  • IQ Air

The main difference is the type of filter used.

HEPAsystems work fine, however they are pleated and require more electricity to pull the air though them causing static pressure, while trapping spores inside that are still alive. So when you change them, you re-contaminate everything. Best practices would include immediately place old filters in plastic bags and sealing them up when removing, so as to not cross contaminate.

Dynamic Filtration Systems are electronic and not pleated, so while it allows the air to move more freely though it saving money in electricity costs, it also destroys all the particulates turning them to carbon ash through a process known as agglomeration.

So when you change these filters, no biological warfare!Weapons Database

Hope this was useful information and not too redundant..

Let me know if it helps!

Nope...not a Hanukkah menorah.....Hanukkah menorah has 9 candles and the temple or standard menorah has 7.  The one in this blog has 7.

Hanukkah menorah has 9....one for each of the 8 days of Hanukkah and the one is the middle is the Shamash or servant candle thus making 9.

And there are a lot of homes that do smell when you go in.  These are great tips. I always knew about putting baking soda in the fridge to reduce odors.

Nice blog Lesley. I wasn't aware of mixing hydrogen peroxide and baking soda together to use as an oder eliminator, I'll have to try that.

Another use for baking soda is to clean and deodorize your drains. Pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda into the drain and follow with a cup of white vinegar and watch the drain foam. When the foaming subsides flush with hot water and after a few minutes with cold water. if you do this regularly it will help to prevent them from clogging and also control oder causing bacteria.

Hi Chris!

I'll have to re=write that! I meant to use it separately! I think using them together would actually do a volcano!!!????

Baking soda is just a great  natural product that works in so many applications!

It's nice to see you again!

Hi Rita!

It's so good to see you again! I'm happy that you found this post useful! We get complaints from customers all the time about odors. TiO2 is another great product, just more costly...

Thanks so much for coming by!

I used to import a nano TiO2 liquid from Japan, and it was a great product!  I had to stop because a gov official asked me to provide evidence the Tio2 was anti-bacterial, a claim we were making, and to fund tests to prove yeah or nay at a cost of over $5,000, so we dropped the product.

I've also used a Clo2 vaporizer to remove odors with great success.  Unlike ozone, it doesn't oxidize rubber.  Like Ozone, it kills house plants and must be used with caution.

The cheapest and best way to deal with odors of course, and I know why you didn't  mention it, is with an ozone generator.  I have a restoration company along with being a manufacturer of ozone generators (Ozone Generator USA) and I know that most ozone generator vendors don't properly educate their clients on how to perform ozone shock treatments, but we do.

Ozone is the ONLY thing that is going to get rid of the following odors:  skunk, the wrench of decomposed flesh, and serious smoke damage.  Ozone oxidizes the organic material rendering it odorless.  Here's the problem.  There are many materials indoors that will also be broken down by ozone and cause a chemical type smell that can last for weeks after an improper ozone shock treatment.  Without disclosing our exact protocol (it works great and does not allow the ozone to interact with the "in question" substrates) we make sure that all rubber, foam, or vulnerable items are either moved from the are to be shocked or we cover things with Kevlar which is ozone resistant.  As a result, after we perform an ozone shock treatment, the smell is gone and the ozone smell is gone within a few hours as well.  If you can't afford to hire a professional (Servepro charges thousands for their odor removal service with ozone) and want to do it yourself, make sure you buy from a vendor that will be able to help you do an ozone shock treatment correctly.
