Whenever a new show comes to Broadway, it does so after taking out the 'kinks' in smaller venues so it can be a smash with the opening curtain. RainCamp, 2010 in New York City didn't disappoint. Bob Stewart and his entourage set up the lights, rolled back the curtain and performed to an eager audience, standing ovations, but no curtain calls.
If you attend any sales rally, it is inevitably about the sales promotions. There was an understated purpose here also, but RainCAmp was about helping to learn and making the most of the tools available to us.
Ben Kinneyfrom Bellingham, Wa offered insights as to how to make the most of our Facebook and Twitter accounts. Thinking outside of the box to do things that other agents aren't. In essence if every body is marching to the same beat there is no way to distinguish one from the other. March out of step and be noticed. He also offered information on Market Leader, after all there can't be a show without commercials
Bob Stewart also offered his insights and tips and tried to get some input from the audience with the rewards of a RainCamp shirt, minimal success. Changing his pitch with the promise of POINTS was a completely different story, however
The Rain Camp brain trust.
The presentation by Brad Andersohn was a 30 minute barrage of information on Internet sights and services that would make our blogging and Internet experiences more rewarding. Most of the sights were available free. His presentation alone would account for almost 2 weeks of feature quality posts for most of the rest of the ActiveRain community members. And to think he presented it all in 5 Minutes!
Boy can he every talk fast!
Spencer Rascoff a fellow ActiveRain member and also COO of Zillow made his presentation preceded by an apology and an explanation of Zestimates. They are not what we agents would consider viable or proper, but if used properly the sight becomes another tool to be used. He offered up that Zillow is now #2 for traffic on real estate listings with better content and easier navigation than #1. He also dropped a bob with the thought that Google was considering either a purchase or merger with Zillow. As one member of the audience commented, does anybody remember using a travel agent? This is going to be interesting to watch as an agent.
Bob Stewart making one of his presentations. Sorry about the photo quality. He is informative, but somehow there's an eerie look about him (notice the eyes).
The audience was interactive and alert. I recognized several of the AR contributors that I follow in the crowd.
Bob & Lisa Hammerstein made the trip across the river from New Jersey. He had his camera so look for his blog on the event.
Ken Cole, took the ferry over from Staten Island. Ken is quietly becoming the neighborhood expert for real estate on Staten Island. As a long time resident, he brings the flavor of the neighborhood to all his clients.
I did meet Toula Rosebrock, even though she was there for the Prospect Mortgage conference in the room next door. Boy were they loud, but then their's was a sales event, where as ours was a learning extravaganza!
Also there although I didn't recognize him at first was Kevin Cavanaugh.
