Kristen... awesome, Doctors Without Borders is such a great group!
Cheryl... awesome as well. Re my subscribe button, just put your mouse over the graphic and click, it should be working, I just checked it.
Marti -- Great list! I've been watching CNN this evening and the photos are just devastating. It's hard to imagine.
I have a friend who has offered to match all contributions to Haiti that are made by 8:42 Friday up to $1,000 if they let her know where they donated and how much by commenting on her blog post. Hopefully, you're ok with me posting to that blog.

Erica... I know what you mean, really sad!
Christine... thx so much for sharing that link, you and your friend are both awesome!
Thanks for sharing the resources. I am going to check out teuxdeux.
I have friends who run an orphanage there, that was turned into a medical clinic (they've been on the news - one of the girls had a broken leg). The biggest problem is getting medical supplies to them. Food will become an issue, but thankfully they were well-stocked.
You can see their blog here:

Gita... my pleasure, enjoy!
Beth... awesome to hear that and thx for the link. The whole infrastructure has collapsed so getting supplies in is a BIG obstacle right now.
Awesome, thanks so much for all th info.
Katherine
Hey Marti,
This is great, my mom and I were wondering where to go for donations and helping others find real donation centers they could donate to. Thank you!
Thank you for always writing exceptional post Marti. This is so helpful to have so many links in one place to help those in great need in Haiti. I applaud you and your efforts.
Katherine... you're more than welcome.
Laura... with so many scammers out there, I thought it might be a good start to share a few legitimate links. Have a great week!
Cathy... nice to see you, just doing what I can. So many people are helping in so many ways. It's really nice to see how something so awful can bring out the best in so many.
You are so giving Marti - you are rare! The Haiti info is wonderful to have in one place. It makes me sad to think of how much help they have needed and for how many years, but it took this natural disaster to pursuade the world to pay attention. Hopefully they can rebuild and actually improve their quality of life to include the basic necessities.
On a selfsih note, I loved Seth Godin's book and had downloaded it when it first was offered. Of course with my computer crashing, I lost it and was going to have to find the link again - you have saved me the trouble! Thank you - every little bit helps!
Have a blessed day Marti!
Actually I heard yesterday that the US has given Haiti 3 BILLION dollars since 1992. But just giving them money doesn't do that much when they have little government in place. Weak national government and almost nonexistant local government, small police department, illiterate people..... The need is overwhelming.
They have deforested and overfarmed their part of the island, which is why the hurricanes are so devastating, from what I understand. There's nothing to hold the soil. The DR shares the island and yet is a whole different world.
In a sick sort of way, this earthquake may give them the best chance. If our marines stay for a while, they may be able to help them get a basic infrastructure started. If a person isn't struggling just to find clean water every day, maybe they can make some progress.
The other thing that has absolutely amazed me is the number of Christian organizations that already are in place and have been feeding and providing medical care for the Haitian people. Although I knew of a couple, I had no idea how many there were. God bless them!
Sheila... right back at you, I've seen the great projects you're involved in.
Beth... you're absolutely right, lack of leadership is another obstacle in addition to the natural disasters. :-(
Marti - The Animal Rescue Site is taking direct donations for the Animal Victims in Haiti or purchase anything from their online store and they will donate from your funds. All the devastation isn't just happening to the humans.
