I read a lot of blog posts today, and quite a few of them were talking about the weather, showing me pictures of frozen water, snow-covered trees, and just generally trying to make me feel really cold even though I'm hundreds of miles away.
Well, vengeance is mine! Check out the following statistics for 2009, from Lindbergh Field, San Diego's official weather station. It looks like 2010 so far is wanting to give us more of the same so far.
- The lowest temperature was 42°F, on January 5 and December 25.
- The highest temperature was 98°F on April 20.
- Highest rainfall in one day was December 7, with 1.56 inches.
- Highest rainfall in a month was February, with 2.63 inches.
- There were 164 consecutive days without measurable rain, June 17 through November 27. That streak tied for fourth longest in city history.
- Highest wind speed was 43 miles per hour, on February 9 and December 7.
Looks like December 7 was a monsoon with 43 mph windws and 1.56 inches of rain!
For the record:
- January is typically the wettest month, averaging 2.28 inches of rain. Only .08 of an inch fell in January 2009.
- January 2009 saw 11 consecutive days with temperatures of 75°F or higher. Average high for January is 66°F.

OK, OK I get it your weather is great :) I love my 4 seasons in Georgia but right about now with our 4th cancelled day of school due to only 2 inches of snow. I'm ready to head our to Sun Diego! I'll call you to help me find a home :)
PS I had the best cat in the world! His name was Boxcar and he was a grey tabby. Wish I had a picture to share but it's in my heart and I can't scan it!!
