Nestled along the busy Lititz Pike, jsut out of sight of the hurrying morning commuters, lies one of Manheim Township and Lancaster County, PA's nicest parks.  Landis Woods Park is almost 70 acres, prime acres by the way, of forested land crisscrossed with walking trails.

This tract of land is one of the largest undeveloped, natural tracts within close proximity to Lancaster City.  As you drive up into the park you are immediately struck by some very nice metal sculptures perched along the drive:

There is a pond that is being used to attract wildlife, and some nice landscaping has been done along the entrance drive to the park.  Manheim Township is to be commended for this wonderful work.

The walking trails wind mostly through heavily wooded areas, but the main section near the Boettcher House Museum have some open areas for picnicing and relaxing.  There are some paved sections but no cars are allowed inside the trails area.  Every September, on the last week Landis Woods hosts an outdoor art show which is well-attended and showcases local artists of all sorts.

The Boettcher House was built in 1920 by Henry Boettcher & has been restored, and now is a small museum and nature center, with displays on Manheim Township history and wildlife.  The house is open to groups during the week with an appointment - check with Manheim Township offices for hours at 569-6406.  The House also offers rooms to hold meetings & banquets.

Landis Woods Park offers some nice vistas of the surrounding countryside, and some nice walkinf trails to get there.  Access this park by turning off Route 501 (Lititz Pike) in the village of Neffsvile onto Meadow Lane.  The park is the first right.  Enjoy your visit!
