The Fix
There recently was an article in the  St. Petersburg Fl. Times. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on:  "How Would You Fix the Economy?"
I think this guy nailed it!
_____

Dear Mr. President,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.  Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.  Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.  Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR.  Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes...

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

   If not, please disregard.

Not sure of the author, but it sure does seem easy enough. Only problem is that I am over 50 and to be honest with you I am not ready to retire so I would have to pass on my million and offer it to someone else. Wait a minute I don't have a job, I don't get a paycheck, I am a Realtor and am commission based would that even qualify....hmmm things that make you go hmmmm?

Hope you enjoyed. I have seen this before but thought it would be cool to get people thinking of just how easy it could be to solve some of the problems if we didn't complicate the process.

Yeah, I've seen this one too.  Would we have to pay a relo company referral to Mr. President?

Only something worth doing is never easy.  This oversimplifies the problems, I do however agree with not giving companies hand outs....unless they are self employed real estate professionals LOL

I LIKE it a lot.  But, it does seem so simple, , , how could something so simple possibly work.

Bill & Karen, I like it. If small business is proven to generate most of the jobs in America why are we giving most of the money to big business?

Hi Shelton & Tom it's things like this that you make you think could it really be somewhat that simple. Personally I think if they just learn to stop our money faster than it comes in we would be ok.

Steve I like your thought.
