I have never had what most gals call "a bad hair day". I have had bad hair decades. Unfortunately, I have never had the gift of good hair maintenance. My big naturally curly do puffs up with the humidity in Vancouver - so much so that I am often swarmed by paramedics who mistakenly think I have just suffered a massive shock from sticking a fork in a toaster.
BUT....life has changed drastically for me since I discovered a place called Blo. This salon is in Yaletown and they only wash and blow dry your hair. The don't cut and colour it. As they say in their ads - it allows you to cheat on your hairdresser without him or her ever finding out.
The process costs about 30 dollars and takes about 30 minutes of your time. They can do updos or just give your hair a polished look that makes you walk with an American Top Model bounce in your step. It is a handy place to go before important business appointments, before a romantic date or before an event where you want to look great (you know...you are going to a party and your ex BF is going to be there with his new 23 year old girlfriend whom everyone says looks like Scarlette Johansson...but I digress...).
They have opened a few other locations now in other parts of the city (and even in Toronto and coming soon in San Francisco) but it is so fun to go to the Yaletown location. Yaletown is an area to be seen. It is full of lofts, yummy restaurants, patios for sipping coffee or cocktails and expensive boutiques. With your new fabulous hair, you want to take your time hanging out with the beautiful people....because you will fit right in!!!!
