Me and my Gall Bladder - a self-involved introspection about my missing organ - Pity encouraged

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker M.M. Parrish Realtors BK3216615

OK, so it's a new year, and I'm working on becoming a new woman:

- No more Blogger's Butt....I'm going to the gym 3-4 times a week;

- No more holing up in my Blogging Cave....I'm spending more time with REAL people, in REAL time....blogging coffee just messes up my      keyboard.

- Business plan? Check.

- Social media strategy? Check.

- Scheduling time to work on the New Me? Check. Check. and Check.

So then WTF is up with this??

Monday evening I have a listing appointment...never met the people, of course they were bowled over by my charming wonderfulness and signed on the dotted line on the pre-printed docs I had brought along (bringing already filled out docs really seems to generate great listing karma!)

Went home, thrilled to meet such nice people, ecstatic that I got the listing, and DRIVEN to get their home sold!!

Stopped off at my favorite pizza place to pick up a late dinner for the family, jumped into my jammies, poured myself a glass of wine, and settled in for a relaxing evening with my family, for Tuesday would be a busy day, what with taking pictures of the new listing, and entering the agreement into the MLS, and setting up my new blogsite .....

And then 4:30 AM Tuesday rolled around.

Long story short, let's just say that any day that begins with crawling around the house on all 4s while barfing into a bucket and making animal noises is probably not going to be a very productive day.

Next up? A trip to the emergency room, a LOONG wait for surgery, an introduction to Dilaudid (currently my best friend), a wake-up in recovery 1:30 AM Wednesday, and home again late Wednesday afternoon.Hospital butt

The good news?

1)

Surgeon says they got gallbladder out just in time, because apparently it was so inflamed if they'd waited another day they wouldn't have been able to do a laparoscopy and instead would have had to slice me up.  (how's that for a mental image?)

2)

I am no longer crawling around my house on all 4's and horking into a bucket.

3)

My colleagues at work chipped in to help me get the listing finished...one friend went to property to take the pictures; another colleague entered everything into MLS after I totally messed up and created 3 listings from 1 in my painkiller-induced haze;

4)

My family rocks...I don't know where I'd be without them.

The bad news?

1) My new site hasn't been taken care of and

2) My abs and obliques and other body parts will have to wait just a little longer before the Buffdom Program starts up again

The best news?

Life takes us in directions we don't always expect.  But as long as you're surrounded by people who love you, any obstacle can be overcome!

Considering the craziness on a plate that my life has become the last few days, I am truly blessed, and so happy to be here!

Joetta - Your story reminds me of the time I had shoulder surgery (I have 6 pins holding my right shoulder in place)...a week after the surgery and high on Vicodin I sat for my MBA comprehensive final exam....wrote in 4 blue books with my left hand (I'm a righty).....I could have rescheduled the exam but I wanted to graduate with my class....so like the stubborn mule I am, I took it then....apparently the professor would have passed me if I'd actually added punctuation and verbs.

So I took it again 6 months later, completely drug free, and passed with flying colors!  :)

Thanks for your good wishes....so far so good, though tonite I learned that Butterfingers + me no longer get along.  Ack.

Coleen, was that your drugs, or are you a really, really funny blogger?  I suspect you're funny.

Thanks, Liz!  Remind me to tell you about the time after that same shoulder surgery when I went on a job interview....since I was wearing a "Statue of Liberty" type shoulder brace with my arm hoisted up in the air, I couldn't fit in any of my clothes.  I wore a pair of my husband's shorts (only thing that fit over the brace) and a brand-new colored x-large t-shirt that hubby cut down the one side and applied velcro strips.  To dress up my look, I wore my ruby bracelet.

Oh, and hubby had to shave my legs, too.  Talk about bringing a couple closer.  :)

Thanks for checking in!  I'm definitely feeling better, but tire easily...I drove today for the first time, went on tour, and to the sales meeting, and did a bunch of listing paperwork stuff....then came home and CRASHED!

Oh Man Colleen -I saw this on the repost.  Good grief - what a weird thing to happen - talk about the gall of the whole mess.  What's up with that bod stuff?  Glad it wasn't a whole lot worse then it could have been.  Now - back to the gym LOL  Just kidding!

Hi Anna -

I don't think I'm all the way well, because I WANT to get back to the gym.  WTF is up with THAT??  :)  Seriously, though....my re-check with the surgeon is scheduled for February 4th....until then I can't over-exert myself or do any heavy lifting or housework or whatever.

Which is why I asked if they could push the surgeon re-check back to, say, June.

No dice.

Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Why is it that an organ we can totally live without is such a pesky nuisance?  Glad you're up and at 'em, sort of.
