Tankless hot water heaters are all the rage. Everybody seems to be talking about them. What's the big deal?? Well,
1. Efficiency--Lack of waste--The water is heated as you need it, so it doesn't continuously keep 20-80 gallons at a hot temperatue. You end up heating water you don;t use and it heats the area the water heater is in.
2. Options--You can install the tankless heater in applications where a traditional hot water heater would not be practical--like an outdoor kitchen.
3. The water is always hot. You can install one for a particular application or a whole house unit.
4. The future is now. Time to conserve--less waste, more available resources. Check out these sites for more information

6 Comments on Tankless Hot Water Heaters--What a Great Concept
These are great inventions. I built my house about 3 years ago and regret that I didn't spend the extra money and put one in. Needless, to say as soon as my hot water heater goes out, I'm getting a tankless system.
It sounds like a big savings and a great convenience. I will check out the link on consumer reports. Thanks for the post.
Hi Tammie--Nice that you have a newer house-we opted for the older variety--(I grew up in a 100 year old house)--the tankless heaters will be a great addition
Hi Mike--the consumer reports article is very informative. Thank you
I was told that if you trickle the water say for doing dishes it won't get hot. This is because there is not enough force coming through the unit to activate the heating element. Any body have first hand knowledge of this?
Tankless water heaters are great. But there are a few things to consider. Hard water will cut the life of your unit. A heater might not even last a year with very hard water. Check your local water conditions and follow the manufactures recomendations. A water softener might be required or it might void the warranty.
Another thing to consider is distance. You might want to mount the unit in a central location instead of where your old water heater was.
Hi,
I'm a little late reading this blog tankless hot water heaters, especially some of the posts, but got to say... everything here is so great and so true. As someone who's originally from the area, I get a chuckle out of many things here.
