16 Comments on Earthquake in Haiti - Pat Robertson & Rush Limbaugh's Outrageous Comments
Stewart,
This Keith Olbermann is quite a shaemful piece of ... work. What a pretensious miserable liar.
Jon - Miserable liar....? What has he lied about?
It's Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh who are the miserable and shameful "pieces of work".
Are you defending Robertson & Limbaugh?
Wow - thanks Stewart for showing that. Hard to believe that Robertson would actually believe what he preaches. Very sad.
Rick - It is sad ... and also alarming that a man who has the "respect" of so many Americans can claim it's a "true story" that Haitians made a deal with the devil for their freedom.
Robertson should be challenged on how he knows it's a "true story" when he made that ridiculous comment!
I joined this group today because I liked the description. "This is a group for people who want sane, rational and calm discussion on any topic whether political or topical."
The very first post I read here is a post that frames up insults in response to hurtful words. This then begets namecalling which begets namecalling and it's all finished off with a snide remark. Sane, rational and calm?
If I moderated the group I'd change the motto or delete this thread.
Will - The only insane and irrational comments have come from Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh.
This is a forum to expose their ridiculous comments ina rational and calm manner, and that's what's happening here.
Fortunately the moderator appreciates this fact and will let this thread remain for all to read.
Keith Olberman responding with name-calling. Then you and Jon started calling each other names. If I was the moderator I wouldn't have allowed either of you to proceed.
Pat Robertson is a silly, foolish old man. Imagine believing in a God that would punish people like this. Crazy....
Letting Robertson off as a "silly, foolish old man" ignores his similar, hate-filled comments after 9/11/2001 and Katrina.
Stewart, I reread my comment, and I apologize for the tone. i should not have done it. I do feel strongly about the way Keith literally used Limbaugh's comment to get on a white horse.
Listen to the tone of this comment. Here's the qote:
" While Kristinn at Free Republic came in Limbaugh's defense. "He was concerned the donations made there would go to the Obama administration," she wrote. "It was that concern that prompted his remark that has been taken out of context and used to smear Rush--and conservatives... Rush did not tell people not to help the Haitians."
Mike Thompson, editorial cartoonist for the Detroit Free Press, said in a post entitled "Rush to Judgment," "I'm having a hard time comprehending radio talk show host Rush's Limbaugh's attempts to use the Haitian tragedy as a stick to thump President Barack Obama... Why do people continue to listen his show?"
As you see, there are two very different comments about the same event. But how different they are from the tone of a moral god that Keith Olbermann has taken. Listen to him. You will here what I mean. And again, I apologize for the comment. I wanted to delete it, but then your response would hang in the air, so that would loook strange, but if you would like me to delete it, I would, or you can do it.
Thank you
Hi Stewart... whether someobody likes Rush Limbaaugh or Pat Robertson or not, whether they care for Keith Olbermann and the way he frames things, or not, the fact remains that only one of those three individuals has spoken out of compassion for the legitimate victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Those who cannot see that are truly the cold hearted among us.
I can't believe that people can try to politicize something as horrific as this earthquake. How dare they blame the many wonderful, innocent people that have been affected. Robertson had many similar responses following 9/11. Since I lost my beautiful best friend that day I have never forgiven him for his insensitivity and hatred.
Jon, I commend your for taking a different tact.
I love Keith Olbermann.
That is all.
