Interesting how time flies, we are a year out on the amazing landing on the Hudson River of that US Airways jet taking off from LaGuardia in New York and having the bird strike. I was passed on this flight simulation so sit back and (enjoy?) your seven minute ride from take off till landing. The thing that impressed me most is the calmness of all these pilots and ground controllers. These are the people you want in your life when a crisis hits. No ruffled feathers here. This was an amazing reconstruction of events. It was absolutely riveting. The passengers were lucky to have had such an experienced and composed pilot.
I remember all the news reports when this happened. It's amazing how some people can be so great under pressure.
Wow! Gave me chills. I have seen a trauma surgeon once operating (a great one at that) and this brought it back to me. Solid like a rock! Sully rocks! ~Rita
Amazing, Gary. What an incredible thing he did. Hard to believe it has been a year. I saw the remembrance ceremony on TV last night - hard to imagine being in that situation and doing what he did.

I could never imagine having to go through a similar situation. The Captain is a hero. It's amazing how calm he remained and how humble he is.
Powerful simulation... what calmness under pressure demonstrated here. We can all learn from this!
I just watched the same video on Lenn's blog, it still warms my heart and makes me so thankful for miracles.
I too am a admirer of the Captain. I am with you he is the pilot I want flying the plane I am on...that is for sure.
This was truly awesome to view...wow...I'm full of gratitude and inspiration---again...thank you for sharing this!
Gary,
Better than all the TV shows. These guys knew what they were doing, for sure.
Gary, I hadn't seen this, only what's on TV and was so glad to see so many came back to celebrate the day. It's SO nice to hear of GOOD News in New York and this was the impossible that somehow became possible!
Capt. Sully did an amazing job. Most professional pilots are extremely well trained for any type of emergency situation. Unfortunately all too often we only hear the stories of the unprofessional types that are few and far between.
Gary, what an amazing job they did that day, cool under fire doesn't even begin to describe it.
Great video simulation. Captain Sully is the coolest man I have ever seen.
Gary - This was viral here in Charlotte. It is excellent. Many of the passengers on that flight were Charlotte residents. He is held a a true hero here.
When I get aggravated in a sales process, I often think of this event. Lives are not in danger in what I do so why am I going crazy? Normally it means the problem is me. If this man and crew can save all of these lives then I can get through a financial transaction without blowing my top.
Gary - Smooth. This might have had a fatal outcome with a rookie pilot. Goes to show us how years of experience and professionalism make all the difference in the world. He goes down in history as one of my favorite heros.
