As a long-time Keller resident (over 25 years) and a real estate agent, I feel compelled to advise the home-buying public of a situation specific to Keller and the Keller Independent School District. Although the Keller ISD encompasses the whole City of Keller, parts of Colleyville, parts of Southlake, parts of North Richland Hills, parts of Watauga, parts of Roanoke and parts of Fort Worth, only properties physically located within the city limits of Keller are eligible for Keller services and amenities. Unfortunately, some of the properties in Fort Worth that are located in the Keller Independent School District are being marketed as being in KELLER! Unsuspecting homebuyers are assuming they are buying in Keller when they are actually purchasing property in the City of Fort Worth with Fort Worth taxes and Fort Worth municipal services. However, they are in the KELLER ISD! Some of these locations even have a Keller zip code and use the Keller post office, but they are physically located in the city of Fort Worth.
When I first moved to Texas from Arizona, and purchased a property in north Keller, I was confused as to why my address was Roanoke. I had Keller services, and lived within the city limits, but the Roanoke post office serviced my address. Much of north Keller is still being serviced by the Roanoke Post Office. Many years ago, there was a major accident about 1/4 mile west of the railroad tracks and west of the city of Keller - about in the area where the Villages of Woodland Springs is currently located. Keller Police and Fire could not respond because it was out of their jurisdiction.
I have heard some horror stories of buyers thinking they were buying a home in the city of Keller and later learning they were actually living in the city of Fort Worth. For this reason, I decided to post this blog for anyone considering relocating to the area. Please do your due diligence to confirm in what city you will be making your home.
