My owner is a Realtor with Century 21 Award in San Diego. Not only did I have a successful open house today, my second best ever with 41 visitors, but I also had my longest open house, not closing up shop until 5:45, 1¾ hours past my advertised closing time.

San Diego Chargers! Go bolts!I was not too far from Qualcomm Stadium where the San Diego Chargers were hosting, and losing to, the New York Jets, so I got some foot traffic from people walking to and from the game.

Open houseIt was toward the end of the game when things got really interesting, though. A couple from White Plains, New York, stopped by about five minutes before I was going to close up. We talked for about 40 minutes and they asked to be put on my email newsletter list. Since I didn't have time to gather up all my open house signs, other people continued to come in, and I was actually able to sign up one other couple from New York and another couple from Mission Viejo, California.

Of course, everyone who signed in will be on my mailing list, but it really is nice when someone specifically says, "Please make sure I get your newsletter."

I got lots of great comments on my Open House Survivor Kit, too.

Jim, 41 people? LOL, I would have been hiding in the closet eating everything out of the survivor bag thingys!

Way to go, hope you get some business out of that, and yes, your kits are a GREAT idea.... got me to thinking. Can you ask your inspector if he can inspect out here for me if I hand out $20 discounts?

Jim -- great news. Glad to know your open house was a success and that you also had folks interested in your news letter.

Gosh, Jim, I don't think I've seen that many folks at an open house that wasn't on a Parade of Homes - ever.  Of course, we don't have nearly the population down here.

Congratulations on the new prospects.

Jim - Your survival lunchbag kid is brilliant.  It could be personalized in a number of different ways.  I am definitely going to think on this one.

It sounds like you did a LOT of face to face social networking today lol.

Jin - Congrats on a great open house...41 visitors is excellent...when we have open houses, we are lucky if half that many people visit...but really the congrats is for getting some leads from those visitors! :)

Wow, Jim!  That's exciting, and how nice of the Chargers to have their game during your open house so you could get the extra traffic!  I was at home, rooting them on on TV, but it didn't do any good.  Phooey.  And I hope everyone who reads this post clicks over to your survival kit description, because it is a great idea.

Hey, everyone.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I get a lot of mileage out of my Open House Survivor Kit. I love doing open houses, and from what I've been able to determine from people here, they love coming to them, which makes me wonder why more people don't do more open houses. Since I'm one of the few open houses each week, I usually get good traffic.

I have read all the comments, but rather than making a comment here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll make any specific replies below and I'll be by soon to visit each of your blogs and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!

Hey, Andrea - I think you're too far north of Interstate 10. My inspector needs sun, regular sun.

Hey, Tammie - I'm certainly trying.
