THE IMPORTANCE OF STAGING

Staging a home is one of the most important things you can do for your listing.  I recently brought a buyer through several homes and she just couldn't get beyond the clutter and personalized items the sellers had displayed no matter how much "vision" I tried to get her to muster up.  Our buyers want to know that their stuff will fit in the space.  They are not interested in how the seller wants to adorn "their" potential home.  So, before putting that listing on the market, make sure to talk to your seller about DECLUTTERING and DEPERSONALIZING their home -- that is, if they want to get it sold!

SOME TIPS:  Keep several storage bins handy.  By labeling these bins and putting some of their personal belongings inside, it makes preparing to move to the new home a little easier ... the transition is a little more real to the seller.  Store them neatly in a basement, attic storage, the back of the garage or a shed ... if need be, rent a small, temporary storage area during the listing period. You'll be that much more ahead of the game when it comes time to move!

Laurie, staging is important. I agree with with that statement. And a cluttered house turns buyers off like you would not believe. Good Post.

Lori, Welcome to Active Rain!  It's always a pleasure to see a first blog from someone in Michigan!  In our market, staging a home is very important because there are so many homes for sale.

Staging has been on my mind a lot lately.  I now am spotting all sorts of things that tell me that I must start taking staging seriously to sell faster.  Thank you for letting me know that I need to start doing this with my clients.
