Every morning millions of Canadians pull up to a Tim Hortons® to get their morning coffee, whether walking in or going through the drive-thru. They'll order anything from a small black coffee to an extra large double double ( double cream and double sugar). I understand that some people will even order a quadruple quadruple! Many will grab a breakfast sandwich or a baked good to go along with their coffee. Tim Hortons® is the number one food services operation in Canada, larger than McDonald's® in both the number of outlets and total sales. There's even a Tim Hortons® outlet on the military base in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Now I enjoy the occasional coffee but definitely not on a daily basis so it's hard for me to understand this amazing fascination that we Canadians have for this beverage and everything Tim Hortons®. I know many people who absolutely must have their Tim Hortons® coffee each morning, not a Starbucks®, nor a Second Cup®, only Tim Hortons®. They crave it!. My brother-in-law even buys the Tim Hortons® brand of ground coffee so he can brew it at home in his Tim Hortons® coffee-maker.

Timmys, as many Canadians affectionately call it, is now expanding into the U.S. with over 300 outlets so far. So to our American neighbours (yes we spell neighbors with a "u"), go lightly into that local Tim Hortons® outlet. As a nation you could find yourself yearning for your morning cup of coffee from nowhere else but a Timmys.

Wayne - My daughter in Columbus, Ohio has a Tim Hortons down the street. I am a coffee fanatic, so do enjoy my Starbucks. Tim Hortons does have good coffee. I didn't know how popular they are there.

Great just what a over weight nation needs more coffee and pastries.  Not enough that we have Dunkin, and Starbucks, and Krispy, and Cinnabun and what ever else it out there.  Here in New Jersey you practically can't throw a rock without hitting a dunkin donuts, very strange.

By the way, I used to find myself in Canada quite often and noticed lots of Timmys around but never did stop in.

James, that's what is like up here. You don't have to travel far to find a Timmys, they are everywhere.

Paula, popular would be an understatement. I would hate to face the crowds if Timmys closed up shop.

Sounds like Krispy Kreme on steroids!  But - also sounds like they have a solid customer base to keep them fiscally sound.

We live on the Canadian border of New Brunswick in Northern Maine...we are lucky to have a Tim Hortens but had tested positive to addiction of the black java years ago as two boys play hockey and we spend ALOT of time in Canada playing youth hockey games.  Some towns have three and four Tim Horten's in them in the province of New Brunswick...some are non smoking...and they are always busy! In addition to caffeine, there must be another secret addictive ingredient...like nicotine or something you can live not without like air. Houlton Maine has one, they are in Presque Isle And Bangor Maine and growing.

Wonder what is in that stuff ;)  Dallas, TX is still a Starbucks mecca, but I'll be on the lookout for a Timmy's.  As a coffee fan I'm always willing to try something new.

Well, I have to admit...I'm a Tim lover. I crave it. Our obsession?? It's an addiction..I know it. I also know I have to quit! My neighbour/friend owns a Tim's, and gave me a coffee maker, and coffee. I still need to go get one in the a.m.---the homeade stuff doesn't taste the same!

Last year I went to Atlanta and was craving a coffee and a donut from Timmy's.  I got frustrtated that I couldn't find one anywhere.  When I landed back in Edmonton, AB I went straight for the TImmy's.  Mmmmm...s good.

Wayne, I had no idea about Tim Hortons till I stayed in Winnipeg, Canada one summer. I had never heard of it...much less a drive through coffee shop! I can see how that came about because it's too cold to get out of your car up there! I left before the snow fell!
