Keep water in the car in a cooler.

Don't hesitate to stop for water, ice cream, or just to get cool.

It seems that some unmotivated Sellers think it is crazy to run the AC in a vacant house.

(Or heat in the winter, for that matter.)

I try to get folks out of those cookers as soon as possible.

I bring a little cooler with bottles of water for my clients.  We also stop as needed to replenish.  I am also sure to have the a/c running full blast before I pick them up, and I'll try to park in the shade when available.

And of course, we try to get out of the HOT houses as soon as possible!  There is nothing worse than those vacant houses (mentioned above) that don't have the A/C running!

Caution!

Watch out for hot KEYS!

Becareful when removing key from that lock box on a hot day, you may find yourself playing the hot potato game real quick.

When that box is in direct sun light it gets hot fast so beware.

I've learned the game the hard way

Dress comfortably! I find that getting in and out of the AC (car and houses) just makes the heat worse! I keep the water handy. When it is hot outside it is greta when they finally find the house they like...nothing like lingering in the AC while the buyers try to figure out where their furniture will go!

I don't have much more than has been said except for showing at a time of day when the sun isn't directly overhead if possible, and supplying your clients with something cold. And out here in the west, try to stay out of the smoke!

I read this post before going out to Falls Church to show a few houses.  I thought about you as I stood sweating like a pig in front of the last house.  I work light clothes, drank lots of water, had lots of water for the clients, and ran the AC on my Lexus on the "Cold" setting.  Couldn't believe that two of the four houses had no air on at all.   Yikes!

Water water everywhere. I freeze the bottles and bring about 8 with me in the cooler. they melt fast and are cool. Houses are generally cranked  up with  central air here. Utility bill are low compared to other parts of the country.

Ditto on carrying the water and I also carry some energy bars in the cooler.  I think the heat can make some people feel "woozy" or if they are like me have no appetite in the heat and then can become calorie deficient or hypoglycemic.  And, I know it is not envirnmentally friendly, but I carry an extra set of keys and lock my car with the AC running while we are in the house so the car is always cool.

Yes, I agree on all counts - dress comfortably (no time for a business suit) nd carry a cooler of water.  It's also more important than during the rest of the year to make that mid-day stop for lunch, if you're working with out-of-towners.  You don't want your clients passing out on you!  (or you on them!)

I bring a second key and leave the car running and locked. That way the A/C is still on and not easy to steel with doors locked.
