Here in Idaho we are having a bit of a heat wave this week. We may even get up to 40 degrees today. Lots of sunshine and a mild wind. Darn nice conditions for around here in the middle of January. But not to worry, Al Gore is still wrong. Tomorrow the weather that we are used to will come back and our ski resorts will get some of the good stuff. Oh yeah! Better get out the snowblowers and turn on the driveway heaters.

How is your 2010 going so far. Here it is the 18th day of the new year already. Have you started on any of your goals? You know what I mean. Are you checking anyhing off the 2010  "to do" list yet? Right now is the time to push a bit harder. Take a look at your list and then make a plan, and do it. The experts tell us that it takes 6 weeks to form a new habit. Better get cracking.

Back when I was in college, I was a gym rat, and had a job as a personal trainer. Always, like clockwork , on Jan. 1st of each new year, our gym, and my business would go crazy with people who had great intentions. It seemed like everyone and their brother would be in that gym, working out for all they were worth. Lots of big goals and big dreams. But right around the 15th of January, the whole thing changed. All of a sudden the place was empty, save for the regulars who had been coming in year after year to workout. Very few of the newbies made it to even week 3. Remember the 6 week thing?

I try to keep in mind, every year around this time, the folks who quit or gave up. Too hard, no time, won't work, etc. I have heard them all.

Keep pushing. It takes 6 weeks. Right around the middle of February, whatever work habits you have been working on will become habits. Good habits lead to success. In any endeavor.

Don't give up!

Kevin, thanks for the encouragement.  I've been there many times...having big goals of going to the gym regularly.  This time I didn't make that goal, I'll just walk every other day instead.  Hopefully I can make it through the six weeks!  Funny though it seems sooo long to get through, but in other things, time goes by really quickly.

I've started working toward my goals for the year and I do go to the gym several times a week. I have noticed since the first of the year that there are people packed in there now, but we'll see if they last.

6 weeks feels likie a long time. I have a few goals myself and changing my ways is daunting. Feb 15th is about 6 weeks. We can all do it.
