The Real Estate Agent Is The Loneliest Person On The Planet...but it doesn't have to be that way
What exactly do I mean by this? It means real estate agents (like you and me) often have trouble finding people who we can openly talk to and "get" us.
We can't really talk to our assistants about our business because if we tell them business is good...they'll want a raise and if tell them business is bad...they'll start looking for another job!
We can't really talk to our vendors about our business because if we tell them business is good...they'll raise their prices/fees and if we tell them business is bad...they'll stop selling us their products or not offer as good customer support.
We can't really talk to our significant others because...well because they have their own stuff going on in their lives and they don't want to hear it from us.
Of course, I'm exaggerating here somewhat, but you get the idea.
So, when is a true top producing real estate agent most happy (and un-lonely)? It's when he or she is associating with other true top producing real estate agents. After all, it's only another true real estate agent who really "gets" us. It's only a true real estate agent who understands our challenges, is really capable to offer ‘real world' help and perhaps most importantly...understands and appreciates the accomplishment of our success.
It's because the "Real Estate Agent is the Loneliest Person On the Planet" and they know the special feeling when he or she is recognized by their fellow entrepreneurs.
So, the big lesson is if you want to be truly successful, you have to put yourself in a setting where people are qualified to help you, understand you from ‘real world' experience, and delight in sharing your victories.
On the other hand if you want to be unsuccessful let me quote Zig Zigler who says "If you hang around 9-dead-broke people, you're certain to be the 10th."
