Itshak Perlman is coming to San Diego this coming weekend. More importantly, he's bringing his violin with him, and even more important than that is that he's going to play his violin in a recital open to the public.
Perlman is one of my four favorite violints, the others being Joshua Bell, Yehudi Menuhin, and Isaac Stern. Tickets range from $30 to $300, and a certain someone in this household, who grew up playing the violin, was able to get us tickets to go see him play his violin.
Perlman is 64 now and spends a lot of time teaching and mentoring young students. I was reading the preview in the paper — and we don't usually get previews in the paper — and one thing that Perlman said about teaching struck home:
Teaching is not just saying what you think, but how you say it. Do you say it with kindness? Do you give constructive criticism? How does the student feel at the end of the lesson.
It's pretty easy to transfer that to real estate:
Being a Realtor is not just saing what you think, but how you say it. Do you say it with kindness? Do you give constructive criticism? How does the Client feel at the end of escrow?

I'm available 24/7, so feel free to contact me by phone or email.
Jim, I'm thrilled that you will get to see his performance. I'm glad that you included the short video so at least I got a sample of what you will be enjoying. Hope you have a great time.
Jim...What a nice surprise to go to his concert. I agree that it is more important how you say something than what you actually say. Have a great time.
I have read all the comments, but since this post is rather old, rather than making comments here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll just let everyone know that I have read all the comments and if there are any questions, I'll answer those. Otherwise I'll simply post this comment and then head over to your blogs soon to visit and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!
I'm still fighting to get an escrow closed that was supposed to close last week. As soon as I get everyone to jump through all these hoops, I hope to get back to being more regular here at ActiveRain rather than waiting until the weekend to do all my posts and reciprocal comments.
Don't forget to let your cat come out to play with all the other ActiveRain kitties. Your cat-friendly dogs can come, too!

Jim,
i stopped by to say a couple of (wise) words and run, and was caught by the music, and spend way more than 6 min it takes for the piece...
I was at his performance here in Daytona. It was a pleasure...
Also, he sometimes utteres afew words, and with his incredible sense of humor, you have the audience burst in laughter.
I envy you... in a good way
