There are two museums in Tahoe City, Gatekeeper’s Museum and Watson Cabin. Both museums have done a wonderful job of preserving Lake Tahoe history. Commons Beach Park is located on the water edge, with a beautiful rock stairwell leading to a large grassy area. The park has a playground and BBQ area with picnic tables. During the summer months you can enjoy live music on most Sunday afternoons. It is a great place for friends to gather with a picnic and bottle of wine, while watching anything from local bands such as Truckee Tribe to old favorites like Les Dudek.
Other things to do in Tahoe City, visit the movie theater located in the Cobblestone Center with a variety of shops including the Corkscrew Wine & Cheese Bar/shop, a nice place to have a glass of wine and the Evergreen Restaurant, known for it’s healthy menu.
The Dam is the beginning of the Truckee River in Tahoe City. Walk across the dam, view the mechanics through the plate glass windows, and learn how it works. There is also a bridge that crosses the river; between the bridge and dam. The water below is home to large trout that tourist view as they lean over the rail, which is how the bridge got it’s name Fanny Bridge. Other things to do in Tahoe City are just sit on bench and watch the people walk by or go to the boat ramp and watch the boaters; you might be amazed how intertaining this can be.
