The Power of Focus

Today is the 2nd day of constant raining. This means a lot of the things we planning on a sunny day would not go according to plan. The plan to go door-knocking, would be canceled. The plan to grab a cup of coffee and relax at Starbucks would not happen since the place would be crowded with nowhere to sit. The plan to be productive for the day is also gone since there are so much you want to do and it doesn't seem enough time to do them. Plus feeling tired, wet, and coming down with the cold can bog you down. The best thing to do is to take some medicine, go to bed, and get a few hours of rest.

It wasn't doing nothing that is important, it is being able to just focus on a task and get it done right. Taking the medicine is one task, going to bed is another step, and getting a few hours of rest is another step. All three gets completed, not partially. Focusing on too many task not only results in high stress level but on many of them not being done or done properly.

After the rest I was able to finish 10 tasks within the hour, just by aiming to get one task done at a time. Living in a high pace world has made us like our computers trying to multi-task. If we ever copy some big files on our computer and then have the computer do something else, all of a suddenly the file copy would instead of taking 22 minutes would take like 53 minutes. And once in a while, the computer would get overloaded and the file copy would just quit and we have to start over and wasted our time.

I have started to be more organized in planning my schedule months ahead of time but also leave room for changes. Things always happens but it is much easier to deal with them one at a time.

Hi Song!

Your completely right!  Too many tasks to focus on will create a high level of stress!  It's something I worked on this year to get things on the right foot!  I've addressed that problem in my business.

Thanks,

Tom Davis
