5 Comments on Negotiating the Purchase Offer: Price Does Matter
Hi again Sally,
How true. Salesmanship begins when the customer says no and negotiation begins with hello.
And what is that old expression about price? Something about the sweet taste of a low price is short lived.
An offer has many elements and it is up to us, the professionals, to set the ground work long before the offer arrives as to how our clients will consider it.
John,
Obviously you have been in the business for a while. You are right on target with setting the ground work. Have a great 2010!
Another very good post.
In today's environment, those potential buyers who are not lowballing to the extreme and aggressively negotiating to their side are shooting themselves in the foot, and.....sellers should know that. It's obvious, it's expected, and it's reality today.
This too shall pass in time, but right now, there's just too many properties out there for sale with desperate sellers not to extreme lowball and negotiate effectively in your favor as a buyer.
Just a shot of reality for those who may have forgotten, lol!

John: Realtors have become educators in todays market place. I spend a lot of time with my clients sharing information about how the marketplace works.

Yep. almost 100% of the offers in todays market come in way low. We have to work with the buyer to bring them up. It is just an expected series of negotiations these days.
