So what is all this talk about the book, The Secret? After its first appearance on Oprah, my mom surprised me with a copy of the book. Not spending much time in front of the television, I was not exposed to all the "buzz". Then, I opened the book to be pleasantly surprised. Here is just one example of how The Secret has changed my life...

I have been, as my brother-in-law & sister-in-law say, "Secreting" a trip to Hawaii. My husband, Jim, is not a big vacationer.  So, I have been working on this with him.  I knew that the only way I could "sell" Jim on going to Hawaii this summer was if I (one) got a great deal, and (two) it was shorter than the ten day trip I want to take.
Well, several weeks ago I went to the mailbox KNOWING I was going to receive something great.  I skipped to the mailbox & skipped back to the house, clenching the mail as if it were a great gift.  I had not been to the box for over a week, so it was a huge stack.  But, somewhere in the middle, out popped a beautiful opalescent, blue envelope with a return address of Maui, HI.  I knew it!!  Saving it for last, I opened up each item. Most were offers for 0% credit cards.  I also think we got an unexpected check in the mail for about $64.  Now I was really excited.  Excitedly I opened the envelope, revealing an offer to stay at a beach front resort in Maui for less than 50% of normal rates, and for 6 days/5 nights. Hallelujah!  (Ok, I know we will have to give them about 90 minutes of our time, but YES!!!!!)
The next day, I called to reserve some time.  Summer of 2007 is what I've been "Secreting".  I was not in my normal cheerful mood when I called, but thought I should call anyway.  Guess what, no openings, booked solid until September.  With my daughter, Andi, starting as a freshman at a new school this year, I knew I couldn't do it.  And that was not what I had intended.  My intention was to go to Maui this summer with Jim & Andi.  I politely said no thank you.

A little time had passed, and every once in a while I thought I should call to see if they've had a cancellation.  Well, one Tuesday afternoon, I had this STRONG feeling to call RIGHT NOW!! With my heart racing, a young man named Ross answered the phone.  He checked, put me on hold, and re-checked.  He came back only to say sorry.  Crushed, I hung up the phone.
Thirty seconds later my cell phone rang.  It was an area code & number I didn't recognize.  I hit the send button and said, "Hello, this is Lisa."
"Hi, Lisa, this is Ross.  I was just talking with you."  I bet you know what he said next.  That's right, something just opened up!!!

Aloha, we just got back from Maui!  And now I am "Secreting" the next trip!

That is so great. The law of attraction really does work. I use it all the time. Please go to my blog posts, I have several relating to the Secret. The DVD is an outstanding 90 minute presentation that would be great for you and you daughter and husband to watch together as a family. Even my 4 year old understands it very well and lives it every day. I am a Realtor and a coach. I coach Realtors. I have a Squidoo lens that has good information on it about the secret at http://www.Squidoo.com/TeachersOfTheSecret. Katerina

I can't get into the laws of attraction. I think doing good things, makes people happy and brings out the goodness in humanity and your own soul. Yes, it's a self-defeating practice to think you are going to fail, but I still can't get all warm and fuzzy about the Secret book. Seems too commercial to me. I'd rather read the Bible.

This is a great book.  I watch the video at least once a week to help me to stay focused.  The video is a bit more powerful than the book and easier to understand than the book.

I do believe in the law of attraction.  It has worked for me on countless occasions before.

I have not read the book, but I did watch the DVD and it moved me!  I then read The Travelers Gift by Andy Andrews and it along with the movie put everything in order for me!  I try everyday to follow the steps to allow the Secret to work in my life!  The Laws of Attraction are an amazing thing, always there for us, we just need to grab hold and enjoy the ride!!

Well, The Secret opened me up, too.  It is something I have always "known" but have never Believed.

Turns out, I don't have top believe in it, I just have to DO IT.  My wife and I started looking at the video

on the secret on the website quite some time ago.  Since then, we've MOVED to Hawaii, since that was our

dream. For those who are interested I highly recommend going to TUT.com and subscribing to Mike Dooley's

daily email from 'the Universe'.  Mike is the "thoughts become things" guy from the secret.  Great stuff!!

the law of attraction seems like magic to most but it really is a law of the universe.  Keep working on it and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I finally got my Secret DVD back from a friend who I loaned it to several months ago - it seems that he can hardly stand all of the good things that are going on in his life.

I'm really trying to focus on attracting into my life what I want.

Hi Lisa.  I was involved in Loral Langemeier's "Big Table" (liveoutloud.com) which is a process of creating wealth and wellness.  Her mentor is Bob Proctor.  Both of them are in The Secret and preach the same kind of material during the Big Table process.  You can achieve the same end by praying without ceasing (which is what the Bible says to do).  It perturbed me a bit when the movie replaces God with a genie.

But as the old punch-line says "I sent a fireman, a boat, and a helicopter"...  Inactivity with prayer is foolish.  Wishing to the universe for what you want without taking action yourself is also foolish.

Lisa: Haven't read or heard of the 'Sercet', but wanted to say have a great time in Hawaii! . . . last time I was there my wife kept me going from one place to the next . . . so, if Jim is not a vacationer, I would suggest you make sure you set aside a half a day (at least) for him to do whatever he wants . . . I just wanted to sit on the beach . . . have fun.
