Cunningham Park Through The Eyes Of A Seven Year Old (Noah E Starr)

It's the grin and the body motion that makes watching him take pictures so interesting for me as a parent with an Autistic son. He doesn't say much, but he starts moving with this happy, half dance step, using his body to zoom in and out while floating the camera around to snap shots. It always makes other kids come over to see what he sees. My fave part is when I get to see what he sees... I may have to start taking the video camera instead of catching him work with my cell phone (LOL). ;-)

This video is awesome. He does take very good photos and you are very talented to put it together this way. I have a niece with autism and she expresses herself through music and dance. They are pretty amazing kids!

You've got me all teary over here. Noah may have difficulties expressing himself verbally, but, through his photos, he's definitely showing us that his world is much bigger than we think.  Blessings to you and your minions!

Carolyn, Noah has an eye for beauty and seems to get a lot of joy from taking pictures. I like the one where the two trees are reaching out to each other as if they are holding hands.

Karen, I love the way my kids start dancing when they like a song. They put their whole spirit into it. :-)

Susie, I am going to do more of this because he's very excited about his work being on-line. He loves YouTube. Little Dude is going to be broadcasting himself (LOL). :-)

Laura, thank you. I am trying to think of something fun for them to do after school and a nice safe place to go take some pictures today. Noah grabbed my Nikon before running off to school. I almost missed the fact he dumped my bag out to get it (LOL). :-)

Coleen, I get pretty emotional about it myself. I love my little guys and some things are such a huge battle for them. Other things are a piece of cake and make you go WHAT??? (LOL) I keep trying to figure out how they can do the tricky stuff and be so clueless over simple things (LMAO). It's nice to see him connect through his pictures. Each one speaks to my heart. When I look though his eyes its like his soul is whispering to me about how beautiful he thinks the world is. Nothing beats seeing through the eyes of a child. I am starting to understand what God means about coming to Him like a child. Children don't hesitate to embrace love and beauty. They gravitate towards it and accept simple pleasures without strings attached or quibbling over theoreticals. Just see and be is how he operates. I want more of that in my life. :-)

Maria, Margaret Rome called me last night as said it was her first thought when she saw those trees. That is an awesome compliment for my shorty. Thank you. :-)

We, as adults, make our world complex.  The eys of a child will see our dilemmas in a simplistic manner ... and perhaps we should take more cues from them.  I love seeing the artistic side of your little men.  They really are a blessing ... challenges and all.

Carol, I think the challenges sometimes makes a heart grow very big. He gets so frustrated and upset when things don't work out how he plans. Photography gives him freedom and control. It's fun and he gets so much pleasure out of sharing his views with other people. It a non-verbal cue of what matters to him. He can express where he's been and what he has seen without feeling any pressure. Just pleasure... It's an awesome thing to watch in progress. Especially when Stephen runs up to him giggling and says, "cheese" only to run like hell when Noah tries to capture the shot (LMAO). The Blur Minion loves living up to his reputation (LOL). I am sooooo looking forward to our sleep over at your home. He's going to love taking pictures in NC. ;-)

Carolyn, your little guy may not talk much in words but he sure knows how to express himself in pictures and his Mom is really clever about putting it all together.  I've got a special needs grandson who doesn't hear well, can't speak clearly, has a poor sense of balance, and has many other issues besides; but he's the most lovable little guy and when the music starts, his balance issues seem to fall to the wayside.  Isn't it great that these special kids have been blessed with their own special outlets and how wonderful for them that they've been blessed with special people in their lives to appreciate all that they are.

C-some people speak and say absolutely nothing.  I'd rather "listen' to what Noah has to say.  What a treat for you to be able to get into his life, see what he says.  He may have some difficulty in expressing himself verbally but look at what he says.  I have to go now so I can watch the video again.

Looks like the little guy was really having a blast. Kids can have fun anywhere, but when you add a camera and a park, you're really cooking then.

Thank you, Caron's Gateway. :-)

JL, I hope today's adventure makes them happy.

Gary, I agree. They are mad fun and know how to enjoy themselves. :-)

Kathy, very eloquently said. Thank you. :-)

Lora, I love when kids have a dance bubbling inside just waiting to get out. My 3 year old is like that. He skips and wiggles and sings these little wordless tunes while stomping around with a big grin on his face. Kids are awesome! Frolic is a universal theme no matter what level they are on. :-)

C - I just wanted to follow up and say what a great thing you are doing for Noah...publishing him on you tube.  I can imagine his excitement to see his "work" online.  My neice loves to post on facebook.  She posts on her mom's account so everyday a post pops up like this...hi, this is maggie.  I finished my schoolwork.  Or hi, this is maggie.  I cleaned my room.  It always makes me smile when I see those posts because I can just see her face beaming while she is typing.  You are doing a GREAT thing for your son!

C. my hats off to you for sharing with us a glimpse of the world as Noah sees it.  Both video and pictures are great. Let him continue to use that camera.  His perspective is awesome.    By the way, does he listen to any Reggae?  I bet he would enjoy Bob Marley's "Songs of Freedom" collection.
