"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called. ~A.A. Milne
Anticipation is the key word for me right now.
My beloved little sister in law is getting married in a little over a week. She asked my daughters and me to be in the wedding, so we’re going through all kinds of last minute preparations, feeling exceptionally girly. Kind of strange for Tall One and myself, the tomboys. (And I’m feeling a tad insecure, being 38 and standing up with a group of 20-something cuties! But I did request the bride give me a hot young groomsman, lol.) Seeing my daughters in their gorgeous dresses makes this Momma’s heart nearly burst with pride. How did I ever make people so beautiful? But most of my happiness here is the anticipation of the bride’s happiness. I love her and she deserves a day to cherish forever.
Vacation is coming up right afterwards. I get my husband to myself, up in the beautiful mountains of Gatlinburg. I am having internet withdrawal jitters, but I can’t wait for the quiet. We’re going back to a place we know well, and I’m very much looking forward to the view. It always brings me calm. Just thinking about that view is soothing me now. I’m getting more days of calm leading up to the vacation than the number of days I’ll be gone!
Changes are coming in my work life. I have no idea exactly what, so I can’t share much with you yet. But the anticipation of the change is good. I’m restructuring myself and it needed to be done. Something new to learn revs me right up! (And Rich, I read the book, and I DID move my own cheese. If my cheese is missing, it was probably me.)
My happiness comes from heading towards the things that I think will bring me happiness. I know that there is good in having. There’s also good in “getting”.
Our only security is our ability to change. ~John Lilly
We all have big changes in our lives that are more or less a second chance. ~Harrison Ford
You have to have an idea of what you are going to do, but it should be a vague idea. ~Pablo Picasso
