Holy Moly, I got Featured! (I Think)

A Great Day on AR!

This is my wedding picture from 1993 (still happily married)and I posted it for any bloggers looking to get featured. If you are not sure how it will go, Just toss it out there to see what happens! SOMEONE will pick it up! Here is my story!

When I started Active Rain I was in awe of all the agents with these amazing and informative posts. I was also inspired to write more posts that would intrigue and also entertain everyone at the same time. If AR were a news paper I would be in the "Lifestyles" section talking about my community; Big Canoe in the North Georgia mountains like I do on my main blog.

My hopes were not to have anyone come to me as a "super-source" of information, but to read my posts informally like you would login to Perez Hilton's blog without anyone else really knowing. The post that I had featured was possibly my most "naked" post of all. It wasn't pretty, funny, or informative. It was a true question about joining a real estate board. POSSIBLY even a blog I might choose to skip if I were scanning the posts.

The responses I had were honest, non-critical, and all across the "board" (Pun intended). I really want to say thank you to everyone that responded to my post and thanks to you I was featured! My advice to any new-comers is to quit worrying about what everyone else is writing and blog about what's on your mind.

Truth be known it couldn't have happened at a better time because BOTH of my kids are at their friends' houses for sleepovers, and this made my night! CHEERS!!!!!!

Karin Elliott, IBA Mountain Homes

PS I can't leave a post without a question. It said I was featured on my home page but where do I find it and how do I get a star? :)

I agree about authentic posts. I don't read the long, statistical posts, although I have posted some for non Realtors. I don't know the answer to your question, sorry.

Am where you were - trying to be informative - but not savvy enough to be highly technical. But I subscribe to your blog and always find it fun to read.

Thank you for the kind words! The funny part about it is that unless you are a member of AR nobody else on earth cares if you get featured. My excitement outside of AR was met with blank stares..LOL!

@John, Dean, Sonia and Sandy- I agree about being yourself and get pretty turned off to blogs that come across as phony.

@Joel-I don't know if I really have a plan at all :) Some nights I stare at the screen and can't think of anything that people would want to read. BUT when that happens I read a bunch of other posts and it helps.

@Sue I love reading your blogs and seeing your pictures too!

Hi Karin:

Thanks for your comments. And yes, Coral Lagoon is still there, actually it is only a few years old so maybe you stayed someplace else. Anyway, I will for sure add you to my list of top Keys deals...All the Best~~Kelly

A lot of people on AR are blogging for their audience and may not be of interest to other agents.  Or they are just posting info that they would like to have easy access to refer back to .....  maybe???
