DOES TRULIA PRO WORK? IT SURE DID THIS WEEK...

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Residential

A few months back I wrote a post titled "I just became a Trulia Pro", a chronicle of my early experience on Trulia.

Although I enjoyed working with Trulia and loved the extra exposure coming to me and my listings, I discontinued the Pro Status for a couple months.  My budget was tight...

Well this Wednesday, my phone rings...

"Hi, my name is Katie, from Trulia," said the pleasant voice on the phone...

Although I was sitting at a Starbucks with my little girls, I was intrigued...

I had hated cutting back on my marketing.  I had planned to continue my advertising on Trulia, but my next closing wasn't scheduled until early February.

After talking to Katie for a bit, she made it clear my business was important to Trulia.  She would get me started for free for one month.  She would call me after a month and discuss continuing the service.

"So I can cancel at any time?  You guys won't charge me?"

"That's right," answered Katie.  She set everything up over the phone.

Well yesterday (Friday) my phone rings.  It was a young lady from Lisle.  She needed to sell her condo...

"How did you come across my name?" I asked...

"I found you on Trulia," she answered...

I had the listing appointment this morning.  It went great.

Does Trulia Pro work?  It sure did this week...

Hi Steve and Joe.  Thanks for stopping by.

Upgrade or no, the basic setup for Trulia is really cool.

I think everyone should have a profile there...

Thanks again,

For the local ads do you recommend doing them as a city to get featured on the search results or by zip code to get featured on individual listings?

Hi Ken, glad to hear it worked out for you, I might be pulling this thread out from the cobwebs because I did a search for Trulia Pro trying to investigate agent reviews, how has it gone since you wrote this post?

Hi Kevin and Craig.  Thanks for stopping by...

Budgetary issues caused me to stop the TruliaPro for the time being...

I look forward to becoming a Pro again!

Thanks again guys,

Ken

Hey Joe.  Still love Trulia.  I am not currently a Trulia Pro (tight budget) but will be ASAP...

Trulia is my third most important social media site.  #1 is Facebook.  #2 Active Rain.  #3  Trulia.

My Trulia posts do well on Google.  The site gets a ton of consumer visitors.  And it is free...

Thanks for stopping by!

Curious which upgraded version any/all of you have used & can recommend? I'm on free version & at any point in time, have at least 1-2 leads that are active, as a result of Trulia free - wondering if Pro will do much more? I, like everyone else, am being especially attuned to $'s spent on advertising...thoughts?

Hi Jennifer.  Thanks for stopping by.

I was upgraded to the basic pro package.  I believe the one that costs $39/month.

I am not currently Trulia Pro, but it will be one of my first expenditures money permitting...

I would call Trulia and see if you can get it cheaper for a few months.  They seem open to negotiation.

Also, as a KW agent, Trulia is offered for 1/2 price for a time period...

You mentioned using Trulia for free.  I think all agents should.  My posts get read.  My profile is seen.   And I do get leads!

Thanks again,

Ken

Hi Ken, Great Stuff. I am sure in every zip code Trulia must be different. $39 would yield you how many leads through Trulia?

Hi James.  I wouldn't expect $39 to get me any leads...

However, as part of an overall marketing package, I believe it is money well spent.  I signed on again today!

Thanks for reading,

Ken

Hi Ken,

Know this is dated but was looking for Trulia info - I just signed up for Trulia Pro - looks like a good opportunity. Not sure I am excited about being one of 4 calls on a given lead but certainly worth a trial period. Do you call on every lead generated?? FYI - with a one year prepaid subscription they offer 2 months free. Thanks, Dave

Hi Ken,

I am curious if you are still getting great leads from Trulia?  So far every lead I have received almost 100, one hundred so far have been on expired homes, or pending, may be few on active listings in the areas I do not work.

I was PRO, canceled it today,.

Signed up almost 40 days back for Trulia Mobile ads: Received 3 phone leads for college enrollment,  one inquiring about a neighbors where abouts....

I just received a call from Trulia asking me to enroll in a new lead program for $500 a month .... lol!

here are the details on Mobile Ads:

Trulia rep said 18,756 home buyers search homes EACH MONTH...in this particular zip code of interest to me.....
35% clients search on Trulia mobile, approximately 7,000 searches on the weekends. I signed up. hahaha!
Total Purchase: $4,536 - 3 Payments of $1,512 over the "Next 60 Days".  PAID $1,512. First payment.
Non refundable full payment due in 60 days. One year contract.
ZERO calls for 30 days.
Would love to get your feed back if you are a Trulia Mobile subscriber.. Is it working for you? If  not would you subscribe?

Well, Trulia is good and bad to me. I got some good leads, but also got some scam from there too.

It is important to mention that I don't pay there, but I do blog and answer questions sometimes. So,I became VIP3 ( highest there in points).

Today I even received a letter from them today: ''My name is Kim and I am LA's Community Manager. I wanted to personally reach out.......(...)We've noticed you've been busy sharing your insights about everything from home buying and home selling in the Trulia Voices community- thank you for helping our community. It does not go unnoticed and is truly appreciated!''

I kind of liked it:)

I am brand new to real estate, in fact, I just passed the Florida state exam about a week and a half ago after the first try. I think I got lucky. Anyway, I just signed up for Trulia mobile ads which is costing me about $60/mo. I don't have any listings yet. I'm trying to figure out ways to generate leads down here since my sphere of influence is rather limited. Will these trulia mlbile ads generate leads for me? I'm a little confused on how they work. I thought I understood it when she explained it, but I don't think I do. Any help with info on what mobile ads will do for me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help :)

We became Trulia "Pros" a couple of weeks before the "special" came out, and paid the $249.99 up front.

Then some problems came up, and NO-ONE at Trulia is returning calls or emails. The customer service at Trulia has been absolutely disgusting.

Yes, it would have been nice to have been rebated the difference between the "special" price and the price we paid, but that's minor compared to the damage they've done to us.

I think I'll write some blogs about it..
