Howdy Austin from a San Antonio boy,

Austin is THE most beautiful city in Texas. I've shown some of these stupid yankees in Virginia photos of Austin; some are stunned, some say I am showing them photos of Seattle.

I miss the Independent Republic of Texas. All of my family lives in and around SA; I have 30 cousins, and we are a tight bunch who love each other dearly.

I am a '78 of Trinity University in SA. We made countless trips to The Armadillo World Headquarters to see numerous bands play, including Jimmy Buffett, Jimmy Spheris, Jerry Jeff Walker, among others.

My ancestoral roots in Texas go back to my triple-great grandfather.

My lovely wife and I are committed to remain here four more years for the sake of our younger daughter, who starts college fall 2010.

Our older daughter is a junior at Radford University, a Virginia state (commonwealth) school, in SW Virginia, next door to VA Tech. She enjoys reconnecting with her high school pals each time she is home on break, and we want to give our younger daughter the opportunity to reconnect with pals until she graduates college.

Watch-out Texas!! The Texas Madman will return to the Lone Star Independent Republic in 2014. Our plan is to sell all of our properties up here, find a one-stoplight town between SA and Corpus where we can buy an old "Sears" house we can gut, then update.

I'll put my 41' Pacific Seacraft sailboat in a marina near Corpus.

Thus, we shall have an hour drive to SA or an hour drive to the boat.

I'm not a "day-sailer". When I slip the dock lines and hoist sail, I go cruising and island-hopping for 2-4 months.

Well you know you are welcome back anytime. You might want to go a bit easier on those yankee's. They really do not know any better. I DO understand though, my wife and I lived in Minnesota for 2 years and I hung a huge Texas Flag from our balcony the entire time we were there ;-)

My people moved here after the civil war and have been in the state since the n.

I am not a sailor but love your choice of destinations!
