Verizon FIOS is coming to Braemar!!!

At first glance, when driving down Tartan Hills Parkway, and seeing the utility trucks in Braemar, I thought that RCN, the cable provider that bought out Gatehouse Networks, was installing new data cables in our community.    Seemed odd since the ink on that deal had dried only a week or two prior.   I was wrong.

Verizon is laying FIOS cable in Braemar.

The newer portions of Braemar, sandwiched on either side of Sudley Manor Road, have basic cable and internet access as part of their monthly HOA dues.  The  provider has been Gatehouse Networks, but will now be RCN.  We are not expecting many changes in service initially, as RCN will shadow Gatehouse's normal operations.  However, RCN promises a much larger channel and pay per view line up later in the year.

Since Gatehouse Networks has been a large disappoint to Braemar, I am sure that many residents will be thrilled to know that it won't be long before Verizon FIOS is available throughout the community.  I am also sure that this is the last thing that RCN wanted to happen as they just signed their deal to buy out Gatehouse Networks in Braemar.

Remember that if you decide to go with FIOS when it is up and running in Braemar, just like choosing Dish Network or DirecTV for television, or Verizon DSL for internet, you will still be paying your regular HOA dues which include basic cable and internet through RCN.  This has not been anything stopping a Braemar resident from paying additional money for premium service.

Verizon is supposed to be the best when it comes to clarity, etc. Their cell phone service is the best as well. No dropped calls.

Jackie:  Right now, my husband and I pay for the Verizon business DSL service.  It's very reliable.  I have to disagree on the last statement, but maybe it's the Blackberry Storm's fault.  I have more phone issues these days than I have ever had.

Jackie:  I will probable be investigating a better phone for me next month.  I said I'd give this darn thing a year, and that year is up in mid-February.

They have been in Sheffield Manor for a while now.  Fortunately my yard is not one they have had to dig into!  At least not yet...

Jay:  They will.  And I'm sure my yard will be dug up too.

I dropped the idea to buy a home in Breamer just because of HOA restriction to be stuck with a cable company. America is all about choices. These kind or practices should be prohibited.

Verizon FIOS is by far the best internet service provider. I have been using them for more than 5 years and the service has been awesome. For someone working in IT connecting over VPN all day and having spotless service is very important to me.

As far as pricing is concerned, Verizon's specials can't be beat. They usually run a special for 50/50 with basic TV for only $50. I pay $80 for home phone, cable and 25/25 internet. This includes $10 corporate discount.

Jay: How in the world did I miss this comment for over FIVE YEARS.  Yikes!

Sid:  I am sorry to hear that.  The cable situation here in the new phase of Braemar has improved to a service provider named RCN.  I dropped Verizon to use them and am very happy.
