With winter firmly in place here in Greenville,SC but thoughts turning to spring already, SB Design thought that we would take a few moments and talk about some things that homeowners can do to get their homes ready(hopefully) for the onslaught of buyers that will be traipsing through their homes soon. We at SB Design would like to offer some tips that might help you prepare for the next few months.
It's easy to become complacent during the winter thinking that the likelihood of their home selling anytime soon is dim. As professionals involved in the business of either selling or helping to sell real estate we need to make sure that the homes that are on the market to sell now are ready to be shown AND ready for the changing of the season.
Tip 1. Look critically at your home again, what has changed since you first listed your home. Perhaps now is the time to have a home stager come back in to advise you on some changes that you might miss.
Tip 2. Winter takes it's toll on normal maintenance items around the house. Do a walkthrough just like you did when you wanted to impress that first prospective buyer. Is there anything you can do to spruce up the house.
Tip 3. The outside, what in the world can you do to the outside of your home in January. You are right, you can't make it to look like it's June. Have you noticed how the weather is unpredictable? In Greenville, SC it's winter one day and spring the next. You can make sure that sidewalks are as clean as possible. Have limbs come down during the winter and you have put this chore off until later> Now is the time to start getting it done, if nothing else it will save you time in a month or so.We don't know when the right moment will be to start cleaning up outside, fertilizing to get the grass green and maybe, just maybe, start to plant some color.
