I'm Not Listening To You, I'm Thinking For Myself
I don't want to sound to off the wall here - but I started watching the documentary "World at War", and finally caught the first installment which covered Hitlers rise to power.
No, please, don't get me wrong I am not a fan of his views or methods of maintaining his power at all - this is not a pro Hitler or pro Nazi response.
The truth is, as Hitler came to power, he had a lot of great ideas and for those who he served - he offered a lot - unfortunately at the expense of the Jews and other minorities. What Hitler offered was more than hope for a change - he provided. He cut unemployment. He reunited the Germany that had been carved up after the first war. Yes, he got over ambitious and full of himself - but he got things done. Remember in those days, the promise and fulfillment of a loaf of bread was a big deal. He created unity (OK - only for the mainstream - everyone else be damned) and unlike our politicians today - he delivered.
There is much we can learn from this man, if we can look past the evil associated with him. And if we don't do something soon, then I agree that this country has problems that will not be easily fixed, and some day soon the promise of a loaf of bread may again be enough to get a vote.

After a conversation yesterday with an old friend, another conversation with another friend last night and listening to Meet the Press and George Stephanopolis this morning, my head is filled with all kinds of thougths and ideas concerning politics, religion, the State of the Union, the state of our families and country. How do you sort out all the rhetoric, all the salesmanship and all the outright lies from people you think you can trust?
It is a big job and everyday, everyone of us is faced with the same dilemma. I see and hear many people with great hearts and good intentions being led down a path of destruction and ruin. They are Listening to the wrong people. Lies are spueing out of the mouths of people in high places, on the media, in positions of authority. Who do you believe? Why are you believing everything someone says just because you believe in that person. Maybe they have it all wrong too. Maybe they have believed a lie.
"I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to
the Republic for which it stands, One Nation, Under God, Indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all!"
This great country is in deep trouble. We are deeply divided. Is this the way our ancestors would want it? For one party or the other to be in complete control? No! This country was founded on the premise "All are created equal" and all should have a voice. Some groups have tried to hush other groups. This is not the American Way.
Stop! Rethink your position! Rethink what you believe. Stop listening to negativity and becoming depressed. Pick yourself up and get busy and make your life better and in turn, make our country better. Do what you can to help yourself and others.
It is time Americans took back our country and the politicians that block and philibuster everything just because it is not their party putting forth the new legislation, or they did not get a big bonus for voting one way or another, to be GONE! "Put the American People first" or else, You are Not representing US!
Republicans and Democrats have stalemated the whole process for a long time. Without cooperation and working together, we will never be the Great Country again that we used to be. What is it going to take? Another party? An Independent Party? The American people are speaking. Is anyone in Washington listening?
