Speechless Sundays- Engine 55 New York City Fire Department

Nolita - Engine 55

The fire houses in New York City have a lot of history and Engine 55 in Nolita is no exception.  The New York City Fire Department has a great website with the histories behind each building and a great photo archive.

Most fire houses are located on city blocks and are tucked in between residential buildings so it's always interesting to see them.

Morgan:  What a great picture.  This is just one small part of what makes New York City such a great place.  Thanks for such a great photo.

Morgan,

Great photo of classic city architecture. Love all of the details and the way it has been maintained over the years. :)

That's so neat, Morgan.  I have never been to New York City.  But, my cousin and her husband were there a couple of years ago and have made me want to visit.  I love the architecture there.  It's amazing.

Great shot. I love the detail, compared to the boring "boxes" for fire stations around here.

I love the detaling on the building. This is a great shot. But you must have a LOT of fire stations to accommodate everyone, if they're this small. We have all different shapes and sizes, randomly placed around the county.

Morgan,

I love that shot. A neighborhood fire station with a red door.

Morgan, what a great picture, it reminds me when I lived in Boston and on Boylston St. they converted a Fire Dept. place like this into a pizza place. Great Pizza by the way...

Morgan,  Great photo and interesting information.  I really enjoyed it.  By the way, I'll be watching closely to see you reach 100K points.  I saw that Eileen made it and I should too, very soon.

Cynthia-These old firehouses are some of my favorite New York City architecture.

I love these ole firehouses and what a site and memories they bring back. We had an engine #4 here at the office for a long time but then it was retired.
