Exterior Home Prep for Sellers

Time and time again the homes that make a great first impression sell quicker than those that don't.  Remember we're also taking into consideration that it's also priced right.  When buyers show up to view a home that want to be wowed and know that this is the one.  Here are few ideas to help sellers get ready to impress on the exterior since that's the first area to be seen:

• Cut the grass (water it too)
• Edge the yard
• Remove grass and weeds growing in walkways
• Add a fresh layer of mulch to applicable areas (flower beds, around trees, etc)
• Trim trees and shrubs that protrude into walkway
• Rake the leaves up in the fall season
• Make sure front screen door latches properly
• Clean or paint front door
• Repair wood rot around house
• Clean the windows
• Fix or replace defective window screens
• Repair or replace any gutters or down spouts
• Make sure doorbell works correctly
• Roll up the garden hose
• Make sure clutter is removed from yard (toys, over abundance of yard ornaments)
• Gates and fences are repaired and working properly
