I am pretty new to real estate, however I am learning fast that it's easy to get stressed out and anxious. The one thing I know for sure is in order to be successful, you must start with a positive attitude. I know this topic is nothing new, but I don't think we can here it enough. A Positive Attitude is crucial in real estate and we all need reminding. "A Positive Attitude is Key to Success." Say it with me... "A Positive Attitude is Key to Success."
Therefore, maintaining a positive attitude is VERY important for a Real Estate professional and don't the negative media and doom and gloom "the sky is falling" attitudes get you down. Choosing a positive
attitude is a process. Aside from clearly being more fun, having a positive attitude is good for your health, both
physically and mentally. Here are three steps I recommend:
- Laugh. Showing a sense of humour when the pressure is on can not only lighten tension, but it will also promote spirit of camaraderie with coworkers and clients. The ability to make others feel at ease is an asset in real estate.
- Be a team player. No one works alone in real estate: You rely on the input and assistance of others to do your job well, and your colleagues and broker depend on you in similar ways. Honor schedules, deliver quality work and offer your expertise when appropriate to help others succeed. Your cooperative attitude will be noticed and reciprocated.
- Communicate effectively. Talk regularly with your broker about impending deadlines and priorities. Don't be afraid to ask questions and when you are faced with a difficult situation, avoid letting emotions and deadline pressure get in the way. Instead, give yourself a moment to take a deep breath and think before you speak.
Although it's not always easy to keep a smile on your face, its worth the effort!!!!
